Why would anyone be proud that Scooter Libby was pardoned?

I am an independent voter and generally dislike BOTH parties. I never understand why a republican criminal like Libby gets support from fellow republicans anymore than I don't understand why Democrats love a lying cheat on your wife Bill Clinton. That being said, please explain to me why a party that is tough of crime believes letting off someone who outed a CIA agent is a "victory" for the Republican party? Bush has railed against "activist judges", but then he goes against one of his first judge appointments and removes the sentence, a sentence that was the norm for the crime.

I have never been a huge Bush fan in the first place but have always understood he stands by his convictions, but I have never understood why this case never got more press. To me, its a big deal that you would out a CIA agents cover just to discredit the agents husband. Its bully politics and now Bush pardons Libby. Other than being a joke, it smacks of Nixonism. To me, this was the last straw with Bush.

I am also an Independent and dislike both parties but Scooter Libby was not pardon his prison sentence was commuted which means his conviction still stands. The Republican party should be ashamed of themselves on this when their are 2 boarder agents in jail for shooting someone smuggling drugs to this country. I truly believe that all the Democrats and Republicans should be thrown out of office cause i believe theve have lost touch with the american public. This is why I am moving to the Philippines. Yes there Government is corrupt but at least they admit they are corrupt . Our Government will stab you in the back the first chance they get. just loom how once again our government is treating our veterans. Then they pretend their for our troops just makes me sick. Of course the immgration situation just makes me fuming mad. All you who dont know she what it actually takes to bring your fiance from another country here legally and this is someone who actually wants to become an american citizen. any way sorry for the rambling but they our politicians act makes my stomach sour

remember, its your president who boasts of this word 'democracy' in all four corners of the world and while he says one thing, for sure, he means the other thing. dont forget the lies he and his cohorts did using the UN assembly to justify not only invasion, but total destruction of a 'sovereign country'..then the capricious 'coalition of the willing' (to lie). and
it does not stop there. always, there are lies, lies, lies focused on other sovereign countries.
while in other countries where 'democratic elections' found its way, total disregard is done, and another kind of lying explanations are annexed. why? because, the country doesn't belong to the so-called 'coalition of the willing' (to lie).

his convictions are never 'pro-americans'. and americans themselves are not even pro- americans. you are letting these worst scenario unfold before your eyes and you have been calloused just to accept the huge injustices happening before you not only locally, but internationally.
these injustices are being accounted in your mighty name- "the AMERICANS". see and hear and feel the amount of hatred just the mention of your citizenship creates anywhere in the world.
my parents' stories about the americans during the japanese occupation NO LONGER fit the description of todays modern day american leadership. decadence seem to be the reason behind.
your country has lost considerable honor, justice, equity, freedom, and beauty of character...
wake up man!!!
for me, paris hilton is a better american. she may have been afraid at first, but she accepted the reality that justice can not and must NEVER be BY-OF-FOR the few friends people of the white house.

You didn't read the rest of the story. I hope no Republican is proud of this, as the whole affair is as wasteful and stupid as the witch hunt that went after President Clinton, who wasn't prosecuted for the same crime (lying in court).

No one outed her. She couldn't be outed. She wasn't covered by the law, and wasn't undercover anymore.

No crime was committed save by Libby with the lie, just as it happened with President Clinton.
