If you were born in the US, you are a citizen. This gives you the right to vote regardless of where you are living, going to school, etc. (With a few notable exceptions) You can even vote on issues local to the area in which you are registered to vote, not just the Presidential election.
Therefore, in seems you need to get registered. If you are male, you need to be registered with the Selective Service first, but if you have done that, they should have asked you if you wanted to register as a voter.
Since you don't have your parents in the states, I would ask them where they are registered. You can register there by default, or choose a locale where you can show you have ties, such as the address of a relative, etc. Also, on you education visa, you had to list a permanent address in the States. That is where I would go to get registered.

contact your embassy or consulate by phone or email. They will provide you with ballots and the means to vote. This is not a difficult thing. i have done this in Cambodia for the last election and they are very helpful. It is your right to vote.
Personally, I have decided that with the corruption of the electoral college and the influence of big business and the lobbyist that control the governmental process in the US, makes voting no longer effective. Democrats and Republicans are just different facets of the big business regime. My decision was to leave the US and stop paying taxes to a government that does not pay attention to the common man. Hey, remember when we were the good guys? Now we torture people and Deny our own military the right to end their service at the end of their contract with the military. I have decided that I cannot continue to support a government that is unresponsive to the basic concepts of its own constitution. sorry about the rant. but... I really think that the US govt. is no longer responsive to the voters. Please vote! I just don't believe that your vote matters anymore. But give it a shot. If enough of the people become unhappy with the status quo maybe something will change. I certainly hope so!

Before you can vote--most people are citizens with a birth certificate. I guess you have one. Use the last state and city for your residence. If you have a USA drivers livense use that . Write to the Voting Office in the city. Request an absenttee ballot. They will send you a registration form. Fill it out. Mail it back. Get an absentee ballot. OR go to the American Embassy and do it their.

As a U.S. citizen living outside the country, you can vote in federal elections by absentee ballot. Federal elections are those for President, Senator and Congressional Representatives. You are entitled to register to vote in the district of your last legal residence in the U.S. whether or not you ever registered to vote or voted from that residence while you lived there. You will need a street address and zip code of your last residence in order to register.
You should contact the US embassy, Democrats Abroad or Republicans Abroad (depending on your party affiliation), or the supervisor of elections in the last county you were resident in for information on how to obtain an absentee ballot.
It would be helpful to know which state you last resided in to better answer this questions as to which elections (local, primaries, etc.) you are qualified to participate in.

You're still an American citizen whether or not you own a home here in America. And you have EVERY right to vote in EVERY election. You have to use an absentee ballot, but you can still vote. Check online for voter registration forms and absentee ballots. I'd make sure to use a site that only ends in .gov so that you know it's a legitimate government website and not someone trying to steal your identity.

What you'll actually have to do is register for an absentee ballot, since you won't actually be in the states to vote.
Here's the website:
http://www.ovf-rava.org/
There you can register then request a ballot. Hope that helps!
