Why is it, with this all volunteer military, that drill instructors and others are still so mean to new recruits? I mean these people VOLUNTARILY enlisted and recruits are still yelled at and treated like garbage....are the DI's so crabby themselves that they need to get out and retire...do they need to make themselves feel special? They are nothing but bullies.

If you commit a crime in a park - national or state - can a park ranger arrest you, or do they have to summon the local authorities. Or I guess sheriff/ state patrol in the case of isolated parks.

I mean I know he is conservative, but he entered the race fairly late, he really has not spoken that much publicly and has not had so much publicity and no one really knows that much about him. Do you support him only because you do not like any of the other Republican candidates and he is your last hope?

What liberal media?? Oh......THAT liberal media!

Dec. 8, 2007
WASHINGTON - NBC reversed course Saturday and decided to air a conservative group's television ad thanking U.S. troops.

The ad, by the group Freedom's Watch, asks viewers to remember the troops during the holiday season. NBC had refused to air the ad

NBC initially said that airing the spot would violate the network's prohibition on controversial issue ads
"I think they had an agenda," Blakeman said. "They didn't like our Web site and didn't like what we stood for."

I heard media speculation that the USA DoD MAYBE announcing the deployment of a further 7000 military personnel to AFGHANISTAN next year - 2008?

I've searched online, and haven't been able to find any links supporting this speculation.

I'll be honest here, because I've become very cynical about such speculation and would love to be proven wrong after USA withdrew 77% of thier troops from AFGHANISTAN in 2003 leaving thier NATO allies sort out the chaos they left behind in the REAL SOURCE of this conflict to go into Iraq.

Went to mediation and came to agreement for Hubby's claims. The paper that he signed said that payment has to be made within 10 days. It's been 5 weeks now and our lawyer still has NOT gotten check from insurance company. I want to light a fire under their butts to get this settlement check. But I don't want to be pushy either. I still have to deal with them for my settlement. Shouldn't there be some sort of penalty because they (the other party) didn't hold up their end of the agreement? I know I should be asking my attorney, I tried but I've been waiting since Wed. to hear back from him so I can talk to him personally. Why is the insurance company taking so long? And is this even legal??

chucklebee (current govenor of arkansas and wants to be your president) hatred for bill clinton(former govenor of arkansas and former president)
is so great that when rapist and killer wayne demond was up for parole in the (murder and rape of a woman that was a distant cousin of the clintons),was denied parole by the parole board.
chucklebee was so outraged that he said to the parole board either you let this man out or i will commute his sentance, claiming that this convicted rapist and killer was "railroaded by the clintons" in this conviction.the parole board caved in to govenor chucklebee and sent this criminal free.
some time later the freed rapist strikes again and murders and rapes another woman
this is unconsinable that chucklebee would have this killer set free simply because he hates the clintons so much.
is this the man you want as your president?
do you think this man is a christian?
simply disgraceful

"On Saturday, the pope lamented that children and adolescents were being deceived by 'false models' of happiness pushed by adults who lead them down 'the dead-end streets of consumerism.'"

He said this specifically in reference to the consumer nature of Christmas.

in a previous question I expressed my concerns that Oprah is having an adverse effect on the Obama campaign because many Americans will instinctively assume that she is endorsing them simply because they have race in common due to several unspoken factors (for instance, the fact that she has never before endorsed another candidate). In lieu of my concerns, several people responded by saying that regardless of her and racial assumptions, Oprah would not be able to influence how people vote, as people would not be stupid enough to allow her to influence them. My question is, if Oprah will in fact, as people say, have no influence on how people vote, then why is she even there endorsing the Obama campaign in the first place?
