Welfare refers to financial or other forms of public -- government -- assistance to people in need. Welfare also means health, happiness, well-being. For many years, welfare programs grew out of a belief that government has a responsibility to meet the needs of the least of these in our society -- needs that the private sector was unwilling or unable to meet adequately.Matthew 25:31-46 offers a framework for the kinds of social welfare enacted in the United States and many other nations -- food to the hungry, health care to the sick, water to the thirsty, welcome to the stranger, clothing to the naked, presence with the imprisoned, shelter to the homeless.
Corporate welfare describes financial or other form of government assistance to a corporation provided free or at a below-market rate. Unlike social welfare, it is rarely need-based.Much of U.S. corporate-welfare policy is embedded in the tax code, which supports certain corporate actions over others through tax expenditures,...

Like the ones Henry Paulson of the Treasury is drafting up? Surprising how there is no uproar over that.

The latest news from Iran about the supposed abandonment in 2003 of the effort to produce a Bomb — if even remotely accurate — presents somewhat of a dilemma for liberal Democrats.

Are they now to suggest that Republicans have been warmongering over a nonexistent threat for partisan purposes? But to advance that belief is also to concede that Iran, like Libya, likely came to a conjecture (around say early spring 2003?) that it was not wise for regimes to conceal WMD programs, given the unpredictable, but lethal American military reaction.

After all, what critic would wish now to grant that one result of the 2003 war — aside from the real chance that Iraq can stabilize and function under the only consensual government in the region — might have been the elimination, for some time, of two growing and potentially nuclear threats to American security, quite apart from Saddam Hussein?

War is unpredictable and instead of "no blood for oil" (oil went from $20 something to $90 something a barrel after the war, enriching Iraq and the Arab Gulf region at our expense), perhaps the cry, post facto, should have been "no blood for the elimination of nukes."

In the meantime, expect a variety of rebuttals to this assurance that for 4 years the Iranians haven't gotten much closer to producing weapons grade materials.

Seriously, why shouldn't I say "Merry Christmas"? Why shouldn't we name a sports team "The Raiders"? Why shouldn't I name my dog "Muhammed"? Who cares! I don't see what all the fuss is about.

I have been handing out alot of flyers, talking to people at events, and getting alot of hits on the website, but not many people are contacting me. I have alot of experience in getting people active from other organizations I have worked with, and I can't figure out why there is such a lack of interest in my group. I AM NOT LOOKING FOR BUISINESS OR TRAFFIC. I just need to know if there is anything that stands out when you look at our site as to why we arn't getting alot of feedback or interest. Equalitycoalitionnc.org. I would really like advice, opinions, and suggestions. Let me know what you think I could do better. Also, if you are in a group and know any stratigies that you wouldn't mind sharing, I would love to hear them! WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!?

As a Canadian soldier I seem to hear constant remarks toward our troops from many places but its mostly the civilians. Be it from citizens in canada critizing troops being part of this war to people outside canada, mainly the U.S. I was recently visiting family in new jersey and quite a few people referred to our troops and efforts to being a wasteand our soldiers being a waste. I was approached a group of people that even mocked our fallen troops. I know our army is small but our soldiers are up to par with any other strong nation. We even train down in the states to. I feel that no matter what I do as a soldier I am constantly criticized. In your view why do you think our troops are mocked why do people feel the need to mock us, be it a Canadian American,w/e. We work just as hard as any other troops

If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life,
Never make a pretty woman your wife,
So from my personal point of view,
Get an ugly girl to marry you.

A pretty woman makes her husband look small
And very often causes his downfall.
As soon as he marries her
Then she starts to do
The things that will break his heart.
But if you make an ugly woman your wife,
You'll be happy for the rest of your life,
An ugly woman cooks her meals on time,
She'll always give you peace of mind.

Don't let your friends say
You have no taste,
Go ahead and marry anyway,
Though her face is ugly,
Her eyes don't match,
Take it from me she's a better catch.

Say man.
Hey baby.
Saw your wife the other day.
Yeah?
Yeah, she's ugly.
Yeah, she's ugly but she sure can cook.
Yeah?. Okay.

Merry Christmas !!

I was unfortunately sexually assaulted in June of this year. I was able to fight him off and call for help before things could get any worse than they already were. I searched through thousands of pictures at the precinct and came up with nothing. I just recently I found his picture and address on a sex offender web site. The police department put out an APB on him but I need to know does that last indefinitely. The APB...How long is it good for??? I want him caught....even if it takes months and years.

"In a news release on Monday, Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki blamed the government of Saddam Hussein for the widespread corruption. . . . But 2008, he said, would be the year that a “war on corruption” would be declared.

“And also a war on those ignorant and lazy people who do not properly carry out their duties,” Mr. Maliki said.
