And you claim to be a Veteran ?

Get it straight, the President said "major combat operations in the taking of Iraq were over" The banner on that Naval ship was "Mission over" for THAT ship, I know its difficult for you civilians to understand military issues, but not once has the Pres said Mission Accomplished for anything other than the TAKING OF IRAQ. what is it about that fact you fail to grasp ??

seriously so NO the surge is working has nothing to do with Mission accomplished (AND YES IT IS much to you democrats disgust you would rather see the USA fail) a

I am hoping that in my lifetime some people can realize what the banner displayed across the island of the USS Abraham Lincoln meant when it said "Mission Accomplished". It indicated that the Lincoln and the other ships in her carrier strike group had accomplished the mission they were given in the early days of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Nothing more. Nothing less. Yet, I've been subjected to every variation in the book of that banner's message by every idiot in the media who couldn't tell the difference between an aircraft carrier and a fleet tug. Add to that the myth that those words were used by President Bush during his address to the officers and crew of that ship on its flight deck and you have one of the great pieces of partisan political crap!
Major combat operations, as defined by the example of past conflicts, ended less than thirty days after March 19, 2003. But, this war on global terrorism is not like past conflicts. It requires a heavy emphasis on intelligence gathering and exploitation, along with small unit tactics that amount to kicking in doors and shooting people in the head. So, those who try to compare it with Vietnam (for example) don't know what the hell they are talking about.
The war goes on. One Beyit Al Shuhada after another. Salafist Jihadists are found and some are captured. Those who decide not to face captivity are facing the death of fools. Maybe, just maybe, those who seem to be on the point of criticizing all that has been happening in the Iraqi Theater need to catch up on doctrine and tactics in this new kind of war. They also need to put their crying towels away when some U.S. casualties are announced. Because they didn't give one damn about the 7,500 who died on active duty during the eight years of the previous administration. Their hypocrisy is sticking out like a nail in a floor board!

Yet another liberal who wants to see america lose.

the Surge is working. There are tons of reports & facts to back up the statement.

sorry that doesnt fit your political agenda.

By the way the Mission accomplished Banner was not part of Bush's speach on the carrier it was the carrier's banner as their mission of supporting the war effort was over for that deployment and they were returning home from that mission

No one is claiming this is the end of major combat operations.

The surge is working, is backed up by a multitude of reports.

Don't be such a pessimist.

The surge has worked. The original mission was accomplished. I think I smell a liberal here.
