Like the ones Henry Paulson of the Treasury is drafting up? Surprising how there is no uproar over that.

First of all there is a difference between "conservative" and "Republican." There are conservatives who are not Republicans and Republicans (lots of them) who are not conservative. I was once a Republican because I wanted to get government out of people's lives. Then I saw the Republican party abandon the principles of small government. Now I am a libertarian because I want to get government out of people's lives. Bush is no conservative. Click on the link to see why.

Because they're not being established in perpetuity. They are short term measures that will be abolished after those they designed to help have been helped, perhaps in as little as a year. The social policies that I, as a conservative, do not support are those that are established in perpetuity.

Further, these are not social measures being paid for using the money I'm forced to pay in in taxes. They're simply a cap or a temporary freeze on prices. Key words: No taxes involved and 'temporary'.

Hope that helps.

Not all Republicans are conservative. Senator Arlen Specter is a prime example of a wolf in sheep's clothing.

I am a conservative. I do not support socialist programs. I don't know any conservative who does.
