Seriously, why shouldn't I say "Merry Christmas"? Why shouldn't we name a sports team "The Raiders"? Why shouldn't I name my dog "Muhammed"? Who cares! I don't see what all the fuss is about.

No, you're not the only one. I completely agree with you. I understand that we need to speak tactfully and respectfully in general, but we shouldn't have to analyze everything we say out of fear of offending someone. If something is not directly offensive in a way that's obvious to everyone, it should be considered politically correct. I can understand why words like "f****t" and "n****r" are politically incorrect because they're offensive in a direct, obvious way and people don't need to think or analyze those words to figure out why they're offensive. But, words and phrases like "Muhammad" and "Merry Christmas" are perfectly acceptable to say and no average person would be able to understand right off the bat why they're considered insults. Anyone who finds these words and phrases so offensive that they want to eliminate them from our national vocabulary has oversensitivity issues and should see a therapist.

From what I've heard, Canada is Politically Correct to the extreme. To me, it can be a form of censorship, if not careful, and is a restriction of free-speech. My great-great grandparents where natives, and I don't find the word "Indian" offensive at all. Some people would rather not take a chance though. There are always a few sensitive people that will be offended, so they'll (the PC people) decide to completely delete the word from their vocabulary. However, I do believe there is a difference between "not being PC" and "not respecting others". If someone disapproves of their coworkers using the N-word to refer to black people, then I don't consider it as political correctness, but instead an notion that the coworkers should be more respectful. Another example, some people disapprove of political correctness simply because they like to use racial slurs on a regular basis. In this case, it's not about being politically correct, it's just about showing respect. We need respect for each other, if we wish to advance as a society. I don't think it should be against the law for people to speak their mind, nor am I a supporter of political correctness, but sometimes certain people should step back, think, and realize what they're saying.

I agree with you. I should be able to call my cat Jesus and my dog Mary. And, I'm calling my Grey Parrot the Pope Benedict because he repeats the same thing all day and he has a smidge of Alzheimers. I'm all for this getting rid of political correctness. Especially when Cheney decided to create a PC euphanism for Global Warming and called it Climate Change so it wouldn't sound as bad it is in reality. SO YES, lets get rid of Political Correctness. Good, we're back to calling it Global Warming.

Merry Christmas and Happy Kwanza Muhammed.

I say Merry Christmas, & I never shorten it, & say it loud & proud! I don't care what you name your sports teams, & have no intention of naming an animal of mine a foreign name, but you can name your animals anything you want!!

But, I don't call people 'retarded', or use slang names or words to refer to someone, so I guess I am PC to a point.
I try not to be rude to anyone & treat others the way I want to be treated. That is PC for me!

No..you are not the only one. In a country where we are allowed "free speech"...i don't see a problem with saying Merry Christmas or any of the other "political correct" malarky. I will say Merry Christmas and God Bless and if it offends you, might I suggest you find another country more to your liking - or better yet - GET OVER IT!

Have you thought of why political correctness is around? It's about courtesy and living in a civilized society. It's about respecting others. It's about (God forbid) educating yourself about other cultures that exist which by the way enriches your life. It can be a bit over the top but I agree with the objective wholeheartedly. I prefer to get along with people. Most people are good and considerate of others. (as best they can). Try not to be so stubborn and think you are 100% right. There are shades of grey.

It 's worst than that-- it's a deliberate form of cultural warfare that originated in the Marxist "Frankfort School" Germany during the inter war years.
It is promoted the NWO -just like communism was- to divide, alienate and atomize the individual in society and they hope make their global takeover easier.

be careful of race -baiting however - the NWO encourages that with excessive immigration and enforcing multi-culturalism with the same goal in mind.

Yeah, there was nothing stupider than "Freedom Fries", "Don't question our President during a time of war", "Don't question Bush's military service", and other items of political correctness that are ruining this great nation.

No, most people agree with you.

But the ones that disagree are the loudest.
