Other than the funny accents, I think Canada has a top rate military.

I feel for you. I chat from time to time with a Canadian vet via the Internet. He had a similar MOS as I did. I did have the opportunity to train with some Canadian troops while I was in the Marines and I have the utmost respect. It's a shame that people have to be the way they are. I want to thank you and all the other Canadian troops that are fighting alongside our own troops. I guess the only people that can understand are those that have been in our positions. We may be from different countries, but we seem to have the same problems that we face.
Edit: I watched a video a couple of days ago that showed a Canadian Army patrol get ambushed in Afghanistan. Oh how those bastards paid! That patrol kicked the crap out of them! OOORAH!

I feel for the Canadian solder. In today's world, he is asked to do much with so little. It's a shame that the Canadian gov't doesn't' fund the military like it should. From 2nd hand broken down subs, to Sea King helicopters falling out of the sky, the typical Canadian soldier has a lot to overcome.
That being said, they are one of the best trained fighting force in the world.
The government (and I guess people) have lived under the US protective umbrella for so long, that they don't feel the need to support the military.
Don't direct your anger at the people. The Canadian people just want their social programs (healthcare, unemployment, maternity leave, etc) and couldn't care less about the military. And the American's are just uniformed.
The Canadian government let you down.

I think for many people it's like the teasing that one does to a brother or sister- you don't really mean it, it's just a joke. But at the same time, you know when push came to shove, you always know that they have your back. At least this is where I stand on if I even make a joke about something like that. The ones who you most commonly hear are the ones who also mock their own soldiers- the people who go fight for them to be able to say what they think.
By no means should you be made to feel like less. You are doing just as much work as any other soldier- you deserve the same respect.

These are the same people who mock American troops who are serving here. It should be a badge of honor to be in such fine company.
Some people use their freedom to do bad things. Not much we can do about that. Limiting their freedoms affects all of us. So we tolerate the fools along with the patriots.
Besides, many Liberals, cowards and whiners live up near the border. If you get further into the states you'll find most Americans are grateful for your support.
Thanks for your help.

You know now I feel kind of bad cuz I have been know to make fun of Canada in general.
I do not think you deserve to be mocked. You are serving your country and that is respected. If your fellow Canadians mock their millitary that is a shame. That sort of thing would never be condoned in the US.
Having said that let me ask, is it true that if you find a mouse in your bottle of beer, you get a free case of beer, eh?

And one of my favorite jokes about the Canadian army is that we can't find a boy scout troop to take over Canada.
But in reality, You are right. I had the opportunity to work with some Canadian troops twice in my career , and they are Hard working professional soldiers. My salute to you and yours.

Most of the people you're referring to are civilians, so you've got to expect it. I worked with the RCAF and the Canadian Forces for over 6 years in the 60s and 70s. Everyone was thoroughly professional, dedicated and experts in their specialties, regardless of rank.
You’ve just got to consider the source and ignore the morons!

I have nothing but the most respect for any other military member, regardless of what country they serve. You are part of a special breed. I'm thankful for all of my countries allies that have helped us in our countries global war on terror. Canada has always stood by our side, for that we should be thankful and show the utmost respect. I stopped trying to gain either the understanding, respect, or thanks from ignorant civilians who have neither the disposition or intelligence to understand the sacrifices that my brothers at arms endure so that they can enjoy their freedoms in ignorance. I serve to protect my country, those that I love, and the American way of life. Just be proud of the honorable service that you give to your country. Those scum who mock you will have their day...

Thanking Canadian Service Personnel for their service in WW1 to the present day, those who post defamatory remarks are imbecilic and a produce of a generation that had everything they ever wanted given to them on a plate, never having to sweat or shed a drop of blood for it.
