"A new study of the mental health of U.S. troops who've been in Iraq shows a substantial rate of post-traumatic stress disorder and other psychiatric illnesses. The high rates of mental illness occurred despite intensive efforts by U.S. officials to prevent them. NPR's Joseph Shapiro reports."

What's more important, trying to stabilize a group of people who are resistant or the affects of the war that are placed on the troops.

Does serving in the Peace Corps in Africa look better on a resume than stating you served your time in the Caribbean or somewhere else? Is it more noble to serve in Africa for the Peace Corps than other places?

Wouldn't a social security card combined with photo i.d. work? If it's not, why do we simply not repair the existing infrastructure? Wouldn't a new form of i.d. be just as corruptable as the old? Why not just utilize biometric technology such as eye scans?

Is this more of our lax mentality when it comes to criminals in general, or more absurdity displayed by the FBI? Was 9/11 so long ago, that we are about to ignore whatever violations there are to our security, and live through something similar again.

I just can't believe this story!!!

The fact that we are an occupied nation can no longer be denied. There was a coup planned in 1933 and Prescott Bush was involved. Are the same group of fascist conspirators involved?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/history/document/document_20070723.shtml

The coup was aimed at toppling President Franklin D Roosevelt with the help of half-a-million war veterans. The plotters, who were alleged to involve some of the most famous families in America, (owners of Heinz, Birds Eye, Goodtea, Maxwell Hse & George Bush’s Grandfather, Prescott) believed that their country should adopt the policies of Hitler and Mussolini to beat the great depression.

My ex husband is AWOL from the Army Reserves and checked himself into a mental health facility so that he can file for disability. He did do a tour in Iraq a few years ago but there is nothing wrong with him, he is just trying to get out of the service and get paid so he won't have to work. In the meantime he is doing heavy drugs and has quit his job so that it looks good for his disability claim.
This whole things sounds very dirty and unethical, should I tell somebody or report my suspicions to the VA? I would hate to see him getting paid to do nothing but get high everyday.

A controversial drug which can keep people awake for days has been tested by the UK military, MPs have been told...The Ministry of Defence reportedly stockpiled thousands of pills ahead of the Iraq war but they have never been given to combat personnel.

http://news.scotsman.com/topics.cfm?tid=1034&id=906322007
BRITISH troops are being prescribed with a controversial drug which has been blamed for making US pilots "trigger-happy" and causing friendly fire deaths.

The Ministry of Defence has admitted that it prescribes the amphetamine dexedrine, which is capable of keeping users awake for as long as 60 hours.

Does this mean a LOT more Army dismissals?

I KNOW DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A&B Drugs.

The MoD OPERATIVE words "Drug taking of ANY kind was NOT TOLERATED in the Army.."

I know I do. I don't like Hillary Clinton and won't vote for her because of her Republican light views on the war etc., but I'm getting tired of people commenting that she's a Communist or Socialist.

Hillary Clinton and her aides were seen cleaning out Vince Foster's office even before police had found the body. But, what was Hillary's role? Did she plan it? Did she simply know about it ahead of time? Did she pull the trigger? or did she simply lead the cover-up?

The way I see it. Its more who can win the general election. America wants a democrat, but how can we win with Hillary and her baggage. IN THE LAST 2 weeks :
1) She has side-stepped and backpedaled so many questions in the debate
2) Instead of answering the questions from the debate to clearify her stance, she blames the "boys club" of attacking her , similar to the methods she used to acheive senate
3) SHE PAID people TWICE to ask her easy questions to make herself look good. She was caught and fessed up to it.
4) The infamous IRAN vote that even some Republicans and Dems thought she was NUTS to approve it
5) Her poll numbers are changing. She is loosing ground dramitically after the issues I listed above and has no real support from turning Republican votes to Dem votes BUT Obama can. New polls show this support.
OBAMA v HIL
People this is just the last 2 weeks, that has me doubting her " INEVITABILITY " .. If we wont to win the elction, out of these 2, who can do it?

I am 17 years old in school and works part time, my son is 8 months old and currently lives with me at my mother's house. The father is 24 and lives in another state 8 hours away, he has a history of drug use and had just recently got out of jail right after my son was born for endangerment to a minor or child, (something like that). He wants to be in his son's life and i had told him he could come see his son ANYTIME he wants, but he claims i'm keeping him from his son because i won't let him come take my son out of state to be with him for a week. What I really want to know is: If i bring him to court for sole custody of my child with vistitation rights do u think i will get it OR is there a chance that he could get joint custody?
Any advise or personal experiences with child custody battles?

We are a 4 unit building that runs on a very tight budget. The owner that doesn't pay her quarterly dues (or pays weeks late if we nag her by phone) is an absentee owner who rents the unit out. What legal recourse do we have to get her to pay her dues on time as the rest of us do. We don't have a lot of cash in the bank and her lack of payment or very late payment puts a strain on the association's finances. Any suggestions?

2007-11-13 05:51:58 · 3 answers · asked by lear 1 in Law & Ethics

This is a bipartisan issue. Greedy politicians are on both sides of the aisle.

Suppose you want to spend more money this month than your income. This situation is called a "budget deficit". So you borrow. The amount you borrowed (and now owe) is called your debt. You have to pay interest on your debt. If next month you don't have enough money to cover your spending (another deficit), you must borrow some more, and you'll still have to pay the interest on the loan. If you have a deficit every month, you keep borrowing and your debt grows. Soon the interest payment on your loan is bigger than any other item in your budget. Eventually, all you can do is pay the interest payment, and you don't have any money left over for anything else. This situation is known as bankruptcy.

Each year since 1969, Congress has spent more money than its income. The Treasury Department has to borrow money to meet Congress's appropriations. The total borrowed is more than $9,000,000,000,000 and growing.
