We are unable to rationally discuss major issues (e.g. Health Care, Global Warming, Outsourcing, Tax Policies, Immigration, etc.) without labelling the opponents as "Socialists", "Fascists", "Radical Right", "Ungodly", etc.
Labels avoid discussion. When did we loose the ability to rationally discuss issues? We need to work together as a society without the rhetoric and anger that currently exists. Republicans do support business, believing that is good for America. Democrats do support social change, believing that is good for America. We need to avoid labels-anger-character assisination and work together to solve our problems, not fragment ourselves into angry camps that are unable to try to solve the problems that confront us. Who agrees?

So the scenario was that my friend had an expired drivers license so he asked me to drive his sister's car, which I felt uncomfortable doing in the first place, and on top of that his friends were carrying illegal stuff on them. Me being the good friend that I am took matters into my hands and drove to the concert we were going to. When we finally parked thinking we were at the right spot, we all drank our beers and found out we were in the wrong area. We got back in the car and I drove more, I backed into a pole and dented my friend's sister's car pretty bad. She doesn't even know it..yet, until tommorow. I'm really broke and I know I probabbly shouldnt have drove but I felt bad. I know it's my fault for not saying anything, but should I be totally at fault and have to pay for all the damages? I am broke, I didn't want to drive in the first place, and I drank when I got back in the car and my friend knew. I need advice, and I can't afford to pay for a bumper right now. Help!

I am serious, and am just curious as to how many people actually think the government has their best interest at heart and I would like reasons why you do or don't trust them.

It's odd to me that people would vote for a candidate who has faith in a deity. Though it is not a neccesity to run for office. And it is also true that goverment and religion are not meant to mesh. This is the land of the free, and having to have a religious candidate would most definately want to implement religious "ideas" and make them "goverment" rules, and restrict freedom rules that oppose their religion ideas, such as gay marriage, abortion, "real" sex education, just to name a few.
It has also accured to me to point out that it was Bush and other War Pigs that agreed to go to war knowing so that it was a violation of their faith of man killing man.
I am an atheist, and I do believe an atheist is the perfect candidate which would make this country to what it really should be. I free country.
So my question is this. Why do you have to have president who has faith in GOD? It has been proven so many times a religious person is most likely to deceive you, and have jagged morals.

Philippines is filled with poor people. They can oly access entertaiment by buying pirated DVDs and VCDs. However the government is quite active in catching the vendors of these items. For me, it's like the government saying "You poor people have no right watching movies, movies are for the rich only (at least middle class)." I just want to know your ideas.

Okay, so I'm going in this coming year....2008 I will be in the U.S armed services..... and my mother says my grandpa would be proud if I was in the Navy... but I'd like to know is it completely boring being on a boat? In the middle of the ocean???... I've always been interested in all the military branches and I have no choice-favorite... I have though about AirForce, Marines, Navy and the Army!!! and I don't know too much about what to expect from each..... I get calls from the Army recruiters the most, I used to get calls from the Marines, until I stopped answering because they would call me everyday and I'm not ready to give them an answer.. Any help or idea on what to expect from each would be cool if anyone can help me out here.... if not I guess I can go talk top the recruiters..... but I'd rather see someones perspective who has actually been in the praticular branch and can tell me what to expect.....

SANTIAGO, Chile - The king of Spain told Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to "shut up" Saturday during a heated exchange that soured the end of a summit of leaders from Latin America, Spain and Portugal.

I applaud the King of Spain - it's about time that someone besides the US stood up to the socialist despot in Venezuela

Can anyone out there tell me if it is possible to copyright the content and approach of walking tours?

This has become a concern since one of the big bus b**** practically admitted he was going to steal the premise of the walks and upmarket them (`slick them up a bit`)

I`ve been trying for yonks to tie in with one of the big bus companies and slick up the walks a bit, whilst keeping a lot of the information and educational values.

How do I stop the sharks from pinching not only the idea but the approach/information/selection and presentation of information?

The walks` DVD has an ISBN. But the walks themselves unique as they are are very, very vulnerable to theft.

Do anyone know about this? Any copyright lawyers out there willing to take this onf or me?

Okay, so I live in Ohio, just got my conceal & carry license a few months back. I don't yet have a weapon. The problem is, since getting it, I'm terrified of getting pulled over just for the thought that they might THINK I'm armed. I just got a new law book in the mail, and it sounds like I'm not supposed to volunteer that I have my license now? Do they know BEFORE they pull me over that I hold the license?

For short FYROM (UN provisional reference, UN Resolutions #817 of April 7 and #845 of June 18 of 1993).

Krste Petkov Misirkov (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krste_Misirkov ) was a philologist and publicist, mostly known for his work "On the Macedonian Matters". His writings are central to the issue of the existence, or not, of a Macedonian nation distinct from the Bulgarian nation. Here are just a couple of quotes of his book:

“Some will ask why I speak of breaking away from the Bulgarians when in the past we have even called ourselves Bulgarians.”

“And, anyway, what sort of new Macedonian nation can this be when we and our fathers and grandfathers and great-grandfathers have always been called Bulgarians?”
("On the Macedonian Matters", Sofia 1903)

Why citizens of FYROM deny their Bulgarian origin while at the same time they try to convince the world that they are Macedonians, therefore Greeks?

Other countries already banned toxic toys made of lead and toxic plastics a long time ago. Why is our country so slow to protect our own children? How smart are we to blame Chinese toy makers when we are the ones who import those toys home to give it to our children? It's not like there is a gun to our head to import those toys. We have toy maker companies right here in the US. Are we stupid? lazy? or greedy? Hopefully it is none of the above.

My sister is executor of my deceased mother's estate. She, my brother and I have inherited my mother's half of the house (co-owned with my aunt who continues to live there) and my mother's effects. My sister is refusing to allow me to help go through my mother's belongings and will not even allow me to enter the house. My brother, sister and cousins went through all the belongings today but refused to allow me entrance. My brother has told me that they feel that since my sister has children, she is entitled to any family heirlooms. She also plans to take my mother's car home with her. I have not been given a copy of the will or any concrete information. Do I have a right to enter the house and make sure they aren't taking things? Can I force a sale of the house? What are my rights?

Thanks very much.
