At a rememberance Service John Howard mentioned Loyalty of the soldiers killed recently and how the election was a form of freedom that these Soldiers died for, All in the one breath. How thick is that little mans skin? I would guess about the same thickness as his crome dome. God he has a cheek.

His ego knows no bounds I bet he always envied his buddy George his title of Commander in Chief I can see him in his flak jacket standing on deck on a box addressing the troops.

I absolutely believe the election is a form of freedom that our soldiers died for! I have to believe that or why else would any one join the defence force if it wasn't to serve and protect Australia and its Freedom. And why are you all talking about Iraq for, these deaths took place in AFGAHNISTAN which is a completely different conflict! It is a fight against TERRORISM and the terrorists of these countries. These people live in a dictatorship where basic human rights were being ignored and people who didn't support the government, or who were born into a tribe or religion that was against the government were persecuted! Ted T said that this conflict wouldn’t affect our ability to vote but it does, terrorism affects ALL of us. These extremists do not believe in human rights and in freedom of choice and freedom of government, instead they believe in controlling people’s lives and forcing their will on others. If we, and the rest of the world did nothing they would keep cutting away at the fabric of our society until it was nothing but tatters, that includes our rights to vote! The Bali Bombings proved Australia is right in the middle of this war and we need to be where we are.

If we were to talk about Iraq though, the comment that the Australian people didn't ask to send our troops to Iraq, that may be true, but we elect our government to make those decisions for use, how ridiculous would it be if we had a referendum on every important decision this country had to make, we would forever be in the election queue to cast our vote, people would get sick of it! Besides, in the last elections the people of Australia had the opportunity to say to the Howard government we don't agree with you, we want out of Iraq and vote him out of office, but they didn't do that! Instead they re-elected the government by a larger majority! Howard's main campaign platform was the war!

Finally I want to say that the RSL is not the moral authority of our country. We as the people elect the ‘moral authority’ of our country in the form of a government, if you don’t like it then change your vote! Before anyone gets on their high horse I’m not bagging the RSL, I respect and deeply appreciate the work they do but I don’t think they should dictate what this country does.

Our soldiers are amongst the best in the world and they believe in what they are doing. They serve to protect this country and its freedoms and they are very loyal.

What a hide this little man has done an injustice to All service men and women, Yes our fathers , mothers, grandfathers, and grandmothers all have had a loved one who was killed during action in WW 1 & WW 2 .

But to say that this election was in a form of freedom, when this government has been tarnished of that fact to suit its self, is beyond a joke.

Did Howard ask Australian People to go to a War in Irag,
Howard just followed Bush and its getting out of hand and there is no quick solution to it all

Allow me to answer Mt Howard with the response of an organisation with far more moral authority to comment on this war than him. The Australian RSL.

"RSL warns against over committing to Iraq war

The RSL President, Major General Peter Phillips, now says that after Bali, it's impossible to predict the next threat. So, he says, a balanced posture is crucial and anything other than a limited commitment to Iraq would be fanciful."

more recently amidst typically pro war commentary from the age:

RSL president Bill Crews said troops should not be politicised. "We don't want them to feel like they are caught up in this, even though the issue will naturally be a political discussion point."

So - given the wishes of the troops and the RSL, perhaps Mr Howard should keep his mouth shut about the lives he has wasted instead of trying to lionize his victims.

Gee wake up the polls are right over 50% of Australia wants Howard gone if you can't cope with that idea you should try growing as thicker skin as your beloved leader but in the mean time grow up if you come in to a discussion where people don't like Howard expect to get your nose rubbed in it

John did reliable for the economic gadget, it is going to pass to hell as a results of fact of greed no longer as a results of fact of a PM. The PM is in basic terms a filter out and a Liberal filter out is more desirable than a Rudd one. Kevin Rudd is a large vast wuss, he has jumped on the politically nicely suited bandwagon and basically says what ever the main recent political fashions are, low in fee realist, "sorry", no conflict in Iraq, international warming. How approximately actual problems that result a greater physically powerful proportion of regularly occurring Australians. asserting "sorry finished no longer something and fee tens of millions of dollars, 2020 finished no longer something and fee billions of dollars. he's basically somebody diverse to John Howard and thanks to this human beings voted him in. he's a vulnerable chief and that i does no longer be shocked if we've been given invaded as a results of fact of him, i think of he could say something alongside the strains of "there is lots of room for each man or woman, we can't discriminate against those human beings basically as a results of fact they are diverse to us, we could have a nationwide sorry day for the invading forces". Kevin Rudd is a vulnerable, ineffective, fairy, pathetic excuse for a guy. He would not should run this form of large united states. the international is guffawing at us.

If he believes that then he is a bigger idiot than I thought. If it was said about WW2 then it may have been true but the war in Afghanistan is to reduce the power of Al Quieda and the Taliban and would have no effect on whether or not we can vote. He is just lucky that these sad deaths are not the result of his illegal activities in Iraq because they would be a direct result of his sucking up to his buddy GW and his inflated ego.
Did he ask the people if they wanted this country committed to another Vietnam scale disaster? I think not.

Mr Howard is sufferring the same syndrome that afflicts all elected leaders who have been in the top position for too long. It is a combination of arrogance and ignorance. Neroism. The Emperor Nero was said to play music whilst Rome burned. We selfishly consume the earth's resources for our ease and pleasure whilst it heats up. It's the cultural equivalent of the politicians' short-termism.

I would think that he is as thick as his eyebrows. Time for someone else to run the show. Australia is pretty much screwed whoever becomes PM anyway, so why not let Rudd have a go?

i understand people being up set with john but look what he has done for Australia ... i don't like a lot what he has done but he has keep us out of going broke (the country that is ) I really would hate to see Rudd in as he will be good with making everyone happy but what would happen to this country if he gave us all what we want .....I also would not like to see what would happen to our jobs if we were ran by a union ... we think our jobs are not safe now well if a the union tells us to do something and we don't well watch out .. and if we don't want int-erst rates to go up again well us Australians need to stop spending money
