It is possible, even being from Romania. I'm not sure of all the specifics, but i do know its possible. Ive actually known several people who have gotten U.S. citizenship via their military service. I wouldn't plan on getting any job requiring a security clearance, though. again, not sure on the specifics, but i know not being a U.S. citizen complicates that process considerably. Also, drug free is a must, along with the army height and weight standards which can be found here: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/army/l/blmaleweight.htm.
also, you must be able to pass the Military ASVAB test, which is pretty much a test of all basic skills, (i.e. English, math, general technical, and so forth). a practice test can be found here: http://www.military.com/ASVAB. also there is an age requirement; minimum 18 (17, w/parents permission) and a max of 42 years of age for the Army. Also, being a high school graduate or equivalent is necessary. there are various ways around this though. see here:http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/a/enlstandards_4.htm
you can pretty much answer any questions that i haven't though at this page:http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/a/enlstandards.htm

and anything that doesn't answer, you can call a recruiter. they can tell you all you need to know. just make sure you ask them a lot of questions since they have the reputation for being a little shady in effort to put guys in. the more questions you ask, the harder it is for them to take you for a ride.

1) switch up your workout routine. if you do the same thing every day, then your body will build a resistance to it. hop on a bike or an elliptical machine, and lift some weights (free weights > machine). a rowing machine would also be very beneficial. also look into buying a weight vest - adding 50 lbs of resistance on your runs would definitely make your body work out harder! 2) take a trip to see a local recruiter in person. a lot of recruiters, just going on your stats, would assume that they're wasting their time with someone like you. go in person, tell them your story, let them see how motivated you are, and ask them to give you a "tape test". that's the dirty little secret of those weight tables - they don't actually matter. the Army cares about BODY FAT %, not WEIGHT. (also ask the recruiter for tips on how to do better with your PT - personally, I did at least 100 wall push ups a day until I had built up enough upper body strength to do a handful of real push ups.) On paper, your stats may not look good, but in person you'll come off as exactly the sort of highly motivated person that recruiters dream about. Good luck!

In order for a non-citizen to enlist in the military, he/she must first be a legal immigrant (with a green card), permamently residing in the United States. It's important to note that the military cannot and will not assist in the immigration process. One must immigrate first, using normal immigration quotas and procedures, and -- once they've established an address in the United States -- they can find a recruiter's office and apply for enlistment.

You must be 17 w/parents permission. Nothing says you can't be married. My husband and I were married when he entered the Army. Under a certain body fat %. Go to this site. It will help.... www.goarmy.com

Yeah what they said. I don't blame you from leaving Romania though. I was there about 15 years ago, I wonder if it has changed much, I hope so! Kids starving themselves to death in orphanages is not my idea of healthy living.

You don't have to have a good physical fitness score, thats for sure. Join the Marine Corps if you're in for a real challenge.

High school leaving certificate and your green card. No criminal record, that would be a big help.
