George Phillips of Meridian, Mississippi was going up to bed when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window.

George opened the back door to go turn off the light but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things.

He phoned the police, who asked 'Is someone in your house?' and he said 'no'.

Then the policeman said that all patrols were busy, and that he should simply lock his door and an officer would be arriving when available.

George said, 'Okay,' hung up, counted to 30 seconds, and phoned the police again.

'Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I've just shot them all." Then, he hung up the phone.

Within five minutes three police cars, an Armed Response Unit, and an ambulance showed up at the Phillips' residence and caught the burglars red-handed!!

I've always thought that taxes were a source of revenue, yet I see people on YA constantly claiming that revenues go up when taxes go down. Where do they get this idea? Is it true in one particular case, and they're trying to claim it applies in others? And if it is generally true, up to what point? Surely the government couldn't abolish taxes entirely, or even distribute money by means of a rebate, and still increase revenues?

Fred Thompson - who's he kidding when he tries to label himself as a Washington DC outsider?
Boy, who is he trying to fool when he should know better that he had "spent one third of his life as a corporate lobbyist in Washington, D.C."!

Guess all the GOP candidates only have to say "I hate gays; I hate abortions; and I love Jesus and all the self-righteous simpletons would sing "Hallelujah" in their belief that these hypocritical and corrupt GOP candidates are god-sent! Bush fooled them; Tom DeLay, Karl Rove. Bill Frist, Ted Stevens, Ted Haggard did fool them, so did Mark Foley, Rick Renzi, and Larry Craig...;-)

Relgion has always been a litmus test (whether for good or bad, I won't say), yet many people say that religion should be kept out of politics now. How can these people explain why the government did well when religion was vey much out in the open? The greatest president we have ever had in this country, Abraham Lincoln, was very religious as were so many other of our great presidents. Why then try to get religion out of government if it makes such great people to lead this country?

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free excercise thereof... etc. etc."

So, if Fundamentalists want to argue that Marriage is defined as one woman + one man in the Bible (which is a stretch of interpretation)... then that makes marriage a religious affair and thus untouchable by federal law as per the 1st Amendment.

Agree?

And how could the law validate the marriage of one religion and invalidate the marriage of another?
(That would mean that all hand-fastings are null and void as well as the hetero marriages performed in religions which also perform gay marriages and refuse to distinguish between them).

And before you say "Reynolds V. United States", that was about Polygamy (and only lead to the conclusion that you can't break a federal law that already exists and say it was your religious right.)

as fiscal conservatives, not to mention guaranteeing Hillary's win (Karl Rove acknowledged Hillary's win on his last day when he went on Rush's show and had a meltdown over her) and the HUGE national debt which they have to help pay off - WITH INTEREST!

What evidence do you think they will "Leak" about Bush and Chaney after the Hillary's win?

Prior to the settling of European settlers?
It's commonly known that Vikings and other Northern countries knew of the New World (archeological evidence of trade) It is also commonly known that the warrior Native archers were deadlier accurate from farther away than any marksman with a modern rifle of the day.
Given the two facts above, how would you explain the 'take over' of the United States? Also please give insight as to why South America has not been as economically (even if for their own people) successful as North America?

Major General Tim Cross has decided to open his mouth and insert his well manicured foot into it. I guess he was tired of being compared to the French and the fact that pulling out of Basra has has been referred to as a "retreat" by American Generals. Now all of the sudden he is an expert on what should have been done. It pretty obvious that Cross should stick to his rather limited roll, humanitarian aid and reconstruction and leave the fighting to soldiers. How come I keep seeing this Monty Python clip in my mind...run away!...run away!

Isn't there some advantage to having a mad man, a loose cannon, a reckless cowboy in the White House?

And aren't Democrats just terribly WEAK on National Security issues?

I am a college Sophomore. I am currently majoring in Psychology. I was researching what I could do with my degree once I get it, and a career as a California Correctional Officer (Peace Officer) caught my attention.

----With a job as a Correctional or Youth Correctional Officer, I can earn $73,000 a year plus health and benefits, and it requires no college degree.

----With a job as a Youth Correctional Counselor, I can earn $81,000 a year plus health and benefits, and it requires a college degree.

What's your opinion about a career in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation? Is the pay worth the risk? Is there any risk?

All input is greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you!!!

I have a friend who assures me that he can beat the breathalyser test every time he gets stopped on his way home from the pub. He said he found it on a website and it works for him. I told him I did not want to know anymore but I noticed how unsteady he was on his feet.

He drinks 15 pints per night and never makes it home until the morning. Surely he could never pass the walk the line test. Should we adopt the same practice in England?

Study at Princeton, with full technical paper explains how @
website: http://itpolicy.princeton.edu/voting/

Shows exactly how easy it would be for someone with access to one voting machine to take advantage of malicious code and infect and rig an entire election with a simple virus, that would be able to steal votes and cover its tracks.
So easily when your brother is in control of the election as Jeb Bush was, in Florida.

This shows it can be done..and we all know who was capable of doing it in 2000.

The real concern is contacting your representatives and having them change the voting procedures for use of the Diebold voting machines for the next elections.
