Major General Tim Cross has decided to open his mouth and insert his well manicured foot into it. I guess he was tired of being compared to the French and the fact that pulling out of Basra has has been referred to as a "retreat" by American Generals. Now all of the sudden he is an expert on what should have been done. It pretty obvious that Cross should stick to his rather limited roll, humanitarian aid and reconstruction and leave the fighting to soldiers. How come I keep seeing this Monty Python clip in my mind...run away!...run away!

By the way feet are not manicured that's known as a pedicure.

The main point is the British Army have been able to train the local Iraqis to be self-sufficient, which was the reason they were there in the first place, where as the US have not been able to do the basics.

The British Army has far more experience in Urban Fighting that was gained in Northern Ireland, and has passed the knowledge to the local Iraqi forces.

Whereas the US Forces sit and hold hands with the Iraqi Allies, modern military history should have taught the US that you don't sit on your **** hidden behind protective walls of fire-bases and Sanger's but you have to take the war to the enemy with aggressive patrolling and contact with the locals.

Obviously you (the US) learned nothing from the experience of the French in Indo-China or the US own failed attempts in Vietnam.

You have to be willing to accept casualties without whining about it all the time, and it would be far better if the press were removed from the scene as all they manage to do is pinpoint the US troops location to the enemy, and encourage the people back in the US to whine about the terrible war in Iraq.

Further more the British have not left Basra or Iraq as of this moment they are still their ready to assist the Iraqi forces if need be, and their colonial cousins.

It's a prelude to the Americans pulling out. They need some one to show them the way.

I think the allegiance to the PNAC neocons is gone and they see the chance to let Bush sink alone. They call it payback. Go to England some time and hear the hatred of Bush. Thanks to Bush America has 0.0 friends left. Great job, neocons and dittoheads.
