"GENEVA - American workers stay longer in the office, at the factory or on the farm than their counterparts in Europe and most other rich nations, and they produce more per person over the year.

We delete social services to illegals, housing, medical and all welfare of any kind. Without jobs and a free ride, they have only one choice and that is to move back home and make a better life in their own country by changing their own country for the better. At that point, gosh, 18 million unemployed American workers will enjoy jobs that must rise to the market value of a First World nation. It means those CEOs at major corporations will not be able to pay for their Lear Jets and fifth $10 million Aspen home, but Americans will get the job done.

I think it's over critical of US. As far as I know, we are the most productive nation for the last 10 years and has been top 3 with japan and Singapore for the longest time. National Geographics says that we put in the second most days of all developed nations. We work 1 day more than Japan, and US gets the least days off of all developed nation. The reason is The Japanese are willing to lose some vacation days. I do question ifChina helps since we are allegedely a dual economy.

Some on welfare are lazy Unfortunately now because fools voted a loser back for another 4 years just in the few days since his reelection thousands have already lost jobs and will have hours reduced because of Obamacare and its ridiculous expenses and fines that punish employers its going to get much much worse 50 per cent of Americans dont pay taxes and the stupid president thinks if you raise taxes on the richest this will make a dent in our debt IT WONT and when thousands will know lose jobs and go on welfare and food stamps it will just be worse

Too bad they couldn't point out that we will also do any job so long as the compensation is sufficient to provide for our families. That would have covered the two big arguments in support of amnesty for illegal immigrants. They say that we americans are lazy and mexican immigrants work harder and they say that mexican immigrants are just doing jobs americans won't do.

I guess they overlooked Mexico in the study. Surely they would have been #1. For the life of me, I can't figure out why we lazy americans aren't trying to sneak into Mexico. They are such honest hardworking people they must have a very nice country to live in down there.

Something the article failed to mention. We LAZY Americans have more unused vacation time than any other workers on Earth. We've even passed the Japanese who now take more vacation time than us.

I think it's sad that real middle class wages have decreased every year since Bush was president, even though productivity has increased. Many people are working harder and longer and many more people are working multiple jobs. I hope our next president honors and strengthens the middle class because I don't believe you can have a functioning democratic republic without a strong middle class.

Very few Americans are lazy over the age of 35.Some of the younger generation aren't lazy just used to more electronic items and prepackaged foods and things.
