The government has a long history of borrowing money from Social Security.
That's our retirement money and this was supposedly created to secure citizens in their retirement!
They are still borrowing from it:

Will we have to raise taxes regardless of whether it's a Republican or Democrat President to repay these borrowed monies?

Terrorism is an industry in the Middle East. If you want power over there without being given it by the West, it basicly has to go through terrorism. The terrorist thinktanks play on the large industry and hypocrisy in the US to rally up support. (Support is wide because it feeds families.)

Now in the US, guys like Bush want to play on the concept that the Average American doesn't deserve terrorism (they don't) and get us to rally up to go crazy in the Middle East.

Obviously the power on both sides are corrupt. The average joe terrorist feels that the US is the cause of world corruption (it DOES play a HUGE roll.) The average person in the US feels they should't have to pay for the mistakes of an elite few.

But here is the question: While Americans shouldn't have to suffer for the crimes of our leaders, is it fair for us to wreck up other countries to get rid of the threat?

What do you think about global warming? Is it caused by man or a natural swing in temperatures?

25 years ago scientists said it was "global cooling" (wikipedia).

If it is caused by man, can we really help by changing lightbulbs while china, india, and others pump tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere?

Lawyers are part of the judiciary. Why are they allowed to also dominate the legislature? The congress should be representatives of the common working man, not lawyers.

Can you reconcile how we can both have the terrorists on the run, doing the right thing in iraq by fighting them there, etc...how we have killed supposedly 75% of alquaeda's leadership, but yet

we are being told that Alquaeda today has reconstituted and is stronger than any point since 9/11?

what gives??

I have horrible credit, probably in debt of about 20k, but I am looking to repair it. I passed my oral exam and police agility test already. I know if i do get accepted to the police academy I plan to make arrangements to consolidate it and pay it all off during my first year as an officer. Do you think they will take that into consideration? I will live with my parents and plan to change and show responsibility with no bills, but my debt. So any opolice officers or anyone have any input on this.

Question for those who lean STRONGLY left or right.

Before you answer, know that "centrist" names are OFF the table (i.e are NOT good answers):

* Repubs - can't say Lieberman or Zell Miller or other "centrists"

* Dems - can't say Specter or Voinovich or Coleman or other "centrists". And you can't say Ron Paul.

Reach as FAR into the other side as you can to name someone you grudgingly but truly respect.

For instance, I'm a strongly leaning Dem, and my own answer: Bob Barr, former Georgia congressman.

According to the article below, district attorney David McDade released a video of underaged teens having sex at a party. According to McDade, he had to release the video under Georgia's open records law. I will not get in to tons of details involving the case as I have posted the link below. I will say this. Where I grew up, children whom are victims of a crime have their identities protected. Does Georgia simply not value victims rights as much as my home state? Is this some rogue prosecutor that likes to distribute child porn? Or, is this some sort of vendetta against the kid prosecuted in this case? My opinion is quite obvious; a prosecutor whom forgets to protect the most vulnerable people in society has no place being a lawyer nor an attorney. Opinions??

couldnt you just love peace, or maybe think that war isnt necessary in that particular situation. Maybe they just dont trust the leadership. war only destroys nations, and is never good for them. perhaps we have too much propaganda and fear, to believe war is ever a good thing..."if we fight over there we dont have to fight over here" ...yeah and our grandchildren will be fighting. i just believe the previous generation should try to clean up their messes before handing it down to generation after generation.

I have very long, thick hair -- past my hips, and was wondering how other women kept their hair clean in the short amount of time allotted for showers -- particulary in boot camp / Marines. I'm considering whether or not I can join.

And I CANNOT cut my hair as the length of my hair is due to my beliefs.

I have been thinking about putting a banner across the top of my windshield that says "No Insurance" (sort of my way of saying "I think I have the right-of-way, pal!) My question is this....if I do, how would the police take it - as the joke it is, or will I be pulled over every two blocks?
