For U.S. Veteran: The journalists he was talking to can be undocumented workers. There are mainy journalists that have heavy Spanish accents. Also, there was even a council member of one city that discovered to be an undocumented worker.

I think he does a fine job of speaking the English language considering that he's from another country. I'll bet he reads and writes much better English than more than half of our college graduates. :)
He's to be commended, not made fun of.

You know, for you to even ID yourself here as a_bush_family_member - I personally think you ought to find something more productive to do in life rather than sit around and belittle those who have realized the American Dream, learned English and made what they say "for the record" count as he does being Gov. of California. I'm not a great proponent of everything any politician does but they did get to office and we need to respect that fact. He came over here as an Austrian Immigrant, worked his betoot off and its a heck of a lot more than I can say for most of the whining whatnots and immigrants in this country today.
And as for his English skills, he must speak plain enough, because what he says, not too many people ask him to repeat himself! You have a nice day naaughh! Ya Heaaaaar?

Because his English leaves a lot to be desired.
I can't hardly understand him most of the time.
Of course he was taught a few catch phrases while in Hollywood, but he definitely needs to take a course in proper English grammar.
He can't even pronounce the name of our state.
I was born and raised in California and English is my primary language, but his isn't.
And, to set the record straight, he didn't tell this to undocumented workers.
What he did say to Spanish speaking television and radio news reporters and Spanish language journalists is that the immigrants need to turn the Spanish language television off.

Arnold speaks English. He moved to an English speaking country and *gasp* actually took the time to learn the language. He didn't expect others to learn his language and post dual signage and didn't get pissed off when others spoke English.

because people like to look good by tearing other people down (especially those in power) Arnolds accent is cool and he speaks fairly well although he still has the terminator attitude that puts some people's backs up.

Oh this one made me laugh for sure.
Have you ever seen the movie 'The Villain'?
It stars Arnold Schwarzenegger,Ann Margaret and Kirk Douglas.
Watch that movie first then think about your question and I think you'll be able to figure it out for yourself.
It's just too funny!

Well for that matter does GW Bush speak English. He blubbers several English words but we they are all put together, most of the time they don't make any sense.
As for Arnold, I guess Kaaaleeefoniyaaaa doesn't really sound like English, does it?

Assuming that the incident actually happened, it was said by someone with obviously limited intelligence. Gov. Schwarzenegger speaks perfect English. An accent is not a measure of fluency.

I do not have a problem understanding Arnold. He has an accent, but he is a pretty good speaker.
If we should listen to anyone on the immigration debate, it should be Arnold seeing he is the highest elected immigrant in American history.

I don't recall that response, though I do remember seeing tape of the incident. But, since he was speaking English at the time, such a jibe wouldn't make much sense.
Sure, he has an accent, but it's intelligible.
