in 2004 a main sewer backed up and our home was surrounded by 10 inches of sewer water, dampcourse breached etc and severe damp/ moisture problems within house, we lost everything, our insurance complany would not admit liability claiming the problems were due to 'furniture being too close to the walls' and 'warm air hitting a cold wall'. We have a 7 year old daughter who was 5 at the time of the incident (10.08.04) temporarily rehoused 16.12.05, we slept on contaminated beds wrapped in sheets & muslin and lived in & breathed in damp for 16 months . I suffered from OCD which worsened & haven't had treatment as my fears/ actions were 'justified' and released back to my gp & I suffered 3 chest infections, 2 pleurisy, 2 kidney infections, an ear infection and skin problems, and since developed We received payment for some of our belongings and also 'goodwill' payments towards essential property repairs, we still don't have a kitchen, we ran out of funds after paying £22k for repair work

Wouldn't this solve a lot of problems?

Cigarettes and other tabacco products are truly deadly. Should the legislature be protecting its citizens from deadly things?

Lots of chemicals are totally banned. So why not tabacco products.

Yes, it seems a bit harsh, and indeed it would suddenly kill an entire industry. But it would still eliminate a group of products that are proven to kill people.

As an Englishman who has just returned from a business trip to the USA i feel must ask this question.
Most Americans who i have met seem to be covered in what one could only describe as spots or dare i say it boils.
Is this due to the diet and lack of salad?

If so, think again. Now they're attaching parts of it to other bills.

Yesterday, in the UK, the Liberal Democrats released details of their new tax plan. They would decrease income tax, and introduce new 'green' taxes on fuel and flights.

These new taxes would pay for the reduction in income tax, but surely this would require people to keep poluting and paying the taxes. If people stopped using their cars, and flying then there would be no money in the pot, and our income tax would go back up!

So the Liberal Democrats have given us a decision to make. Do we want a country paid for by pollution? I say no!

Doesn't its use - intill terror without anyone actually having to do anything?

Why don't we just call it "wankerism"?

If you don't know the name and address of the person who committed the crime. The police might come round, take a statement (only if you saw them doing it, not if you heard them doing it, and saw them run away), give you a crime report leaflet, and about a week later send you a letter saying they have finished their investigation.
I know they give you a crime report number, which can be useful if you claim on insurance, but if you claim , the insurance goes up, so there is no purpose for claiming, because you pay it all back with increases premiums.

Are the great family loving and christian Republicans being revealed to be what they really are?
Would you be really mean if you said maybe, just maybe that the right wing of the Republican Party was made up of chicken hawks, Vice President Cheney, 5 college deferments to avoid going to war in Viet Nam and George W Bush, 3 months in the Air National Guard in Texas guarding the air over Texas and another 3 months in the jungles of Alabama. Would it be mean to say they might, just might be hypocrits?

According to U.S. intelligence agencies, they're alive, well and figuring out ways how to get into our country.

Meanwhile, our borders are wide open, thousands of undetected illegal immigrants are still arriving daily.

Is this not complete insanity? How tough will it be for them to "sneak" in?

Many corporations--the very thing that environmentalists and those with socialist and communist agendas hate--are making big dollars by "going green." Heck, Dell Computers will even plant a tree for you to offset the carbon used in making your computer!

My point is, people have bought into this craze and companies are cashing in and making even more money. I think it's ironic, because the folks who are against big business are not against them because of pollution (that's just a smokescreen) but because big businesses make big dollars in a free market.

I believe that the effect of this Republican Administration led by George W Bush and Dick Cheney put the countries defenses in jeopardy. Does the support of old war horses like Senators John McCain and John Warner make the administration's stance and strategy of 'banging your head against a brick wall' seem like a good strategy.

I saw in youtube.com, in a past democratic presidential debate, Hillary Clinton said she does NOT want English to be the official language of the US so that the Government will finance language translators in hospitals in the US.
If English is not the official language, then would the Government finance translators for schools and institutions as well?
By the way, Obama said that an official language does not matter.

Here's the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmngww_Go-Q

Sure. Put translators for each language (hundreds) in each of the thousands of hospitals in the US.

Sure. Put translators for each language (hundreds) in each of the thousands of schools and insitutions in the US.
That means in each classroom.

Do you think Hillary Clinton and Obama has COMMON SENSE?
