Question for those who lean STRONGLY left or right.
Before you answer, know that "centrist" names are OFF the table (i.e are NOT good answers):
* Repubs - can't say Lieberman or Zell Miller or other "centrists"
* Dems - can't say Specter or Voinovich or Coleman or other "centrists". And you can't say Ron Paul.
Reach as FAR into the other side as you can to name someone you grudgingly but truly respect.
For instance, I'm a strongly leaning Dem, and my own answer: Bob Barr, former Georgia congressman.

Suthrn - From the looks of a lot of the answers, I don't think I did so hot!
C'mon, people - if I, a liberal, can cite Bob Barr, a lot of you can do a lot more to open your minds.

Dennis Kucinich is the only one on the far left that has been consistant and "gets" the problems that really face us ahead.
Don't know why I cant say Ron Paul if i'm on the left. He's not really a centrist at all, he's a left leaning Reublican. Hillary by the way is from a left point of view a centrist. He policies are not really liberal at all.
Also Paul Craig Roberts is a former Bush Sr. official on the right that get's it and writes a lot.
Look him up he's great.

Good question, but yikes! LOL Without Zell Miller or Joe Lieberman, I'm just lost.
Someone on the left whom I grudgingly but truly respect. Well, I don't really respect him, but for some odd reason I can't figure out, I kinda like Rev. Al Sharpton. I know - I know! But....I can't help it.

Their strong determination. The sad part is, their determanation is aimed at taking their brother's freedoms away, and handing control of the people over to a government who will force upon them their will, and we the people, who our forefathers paid a heavy price for us to have choices, will be left with NONE.
As far as an individual goes, none.

You really know how to make people stretch those brain cells, don't ya? :)
I'd say Biden. Okay, if it came down to Presidential AND a Dem for Pres, I'd pick Obama over Hillary.
How's that????????????? hehehehe :)

I can't think of one.
I think there was a Republican on the Daily Show one night, and I thought, "This guy's ok, for a republican", but I don't remember who, if it happened at all.
Maybe Lynn Swann, but I only respect him for his football talents, so that doesn't count.
Probably have to be someone with a sense of humor, so that counts out Dennis Miller and Jay Leno...
Certianly none of the current Republican presidential candidates are worthy of my respect.
Current office holders? No.
Let's look at former presidents: Reagan? No. Bush the 1st? No. Nixon? No.
Charles Barkley, Mel Gibson, Bruce Willis? No.
Ted Nugent, Toby Keith, Charlie Daniels? No.
Anyone on Fox News? No.
It'd probably have to be someone that I don't realize is a Republican.
I'll keep thinking...
Good question, though.

Since the 70's I was almost far left, by as I grow older is find myself just to the left of center. I do still support a women's right to choose but I am against amnesty for both Scooter Libby and the illegals aliens. I support the war in Afghanistan, but think the war in Iraq was a war of choice and sold to us with lies and fear.

Ted Kennedy. Nobody that f____ing dumb can keep getting voted in unless he's paying off hundreds of thousands of people.
To do so means he has great wealth (unlike 99.9% of his democrat peers claiming only republicans have money).
Include that he let someone die instead of trying to help... As he convinces so many people to vote for him... Is f____ing amazing.
