The questions and comments on the immigration issue are so racially charged. Why not tolerate these people who came here to get a better life?

Yeah, this is America, and I am proud to be an American. I am also proud to have an open mind and learn about people who aren't like me.

But why Mexicans? What is it about them that causes these "Speak English - Love It or Leave It" reactions? Is it all about money (sponging off of us)?
What is it about immigration that causes such a strong, negative reaction for you?

a friend who is will graduate in awhile thinks he is getting UNLIMITED tickets to fly family and friends out to California to attend the ceremony. I find that hard to believe. What if the graduate wants to fly out 100 people? can anyone answer this for me once and for all. How many tickets do they actually get for free?

If we allow rogue states or terrorists to disrupt oil supplies we better go ahead and shot ourselves in the head. A huge hike in gas prices after such disruptions would affect not only the amount of driving we can afford, but it would surely mean millions of unemployed, bankruptcies of major and small companies, ie airlines, auto makers, plane builders, etc. The plight of the poor to put bread on the table would become exponentially more difficult. The democrats are the poor's real worst enemies. A war to secure Oil is a matter of everyone's survival not only the oil companies.

My boyfriend and the father of my two sons is being held by immigration on a deportation warrant. He will be sent back to Haiti in about 3 weeks. He has been in the USA for 27 years he has a legitimate full time job where he has worked for the past 18 years and he pays taxes. My children will suffer for this unfortunate problem they will have to grow up without a father and my oldest son is 14 months and we have another son on the way who may never have the chance for his father to ever see him in his lifetime. My boyfriend also has a life or death medical condition, he has a blood clot in his leg that could travel and create serious harm on him or death. He was scheduled to have surgery two weeks after he was picked up by INS, he has his own health insurance, he does not depend on the government in any kind of way. But noone seems to care at all. It will be very hard to raise two sons on my own. Is there anyone that can help us?

I am 17 yrs old girl and I really do want to go fight for my country whether it be in tha Navy, the Airforce, the Marines somethin. But my family and my parents thinks it is a mans duty but I know at heart I can do it as well as any man with the right training. but I am torn w/ my parents who just want me to go to college and end up workin in a office, but I don't want that. I figured out that George and the Bush league weren't real conservatives years ago, and I parted ways. All my other Republican friends called me a traitor. Now, suddenly, after it's too late, they're all waking up. Different things are waking them up...the wild spending sprees; the endless undeclared war; the penchant for nation-building even before we've built one; the utter cave-in on illegal immigration; the inflationary monetary policy and collapse of the dollar...

For me, it was the Patriot Act. Guys, sometimes you have to read this stuff. It's all there in black and white. Every bit as scary as Al Gore's "Earth in the Balance". It relieves us of any freedoms we ever thought we had. Today, this act gives government authority to investigate our reading habits, religious beliefs, travel plans, financial transactions and medical records, all without evidence or just cause. How does that fit with any conservative plan this side of Stalin?
