I just returned from Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego just 3 days ago. I watched my son graduate Marine Corps Boot Camp. I am also a 13 year vet of the Marine Corps myself. I can tell you that there were no free tickets (airline) at all for him or my family. We were all granted access to the base and were able to watch his graduation for free. My son even had to purchase his return airline ticket before he was able to go on leave. Guess the answer to your question is no. There are no unlimited free airline tickets for Marines or any other service members....

umm the unlimited tickets he may get are to attend the ceremony at MCRD SD. the ceremony ONLY.
the military does NOT fly friends and family memebrs to attend boot camp graduiation.
Navy gives each Recruit 4 tickets. any additional family members must wait until all tiocketed people get in, and if there is room left over, they will allow the extras to go in.

No free airline tickets, maybe unlimited tickets for friends/family to get in and watch the ceremony but you have to fly there and get hotels yourself. Nothing is free in the military lol

Your friend is severely mistaken. The Marine Corps is NOT going to pay to have family flown out to attend a graduation ceremony. It doesn't matter what the circumstance is.
So.... How many tickets do they actually get for free? -ZERO-

They get nothing like that. If family and friends want to attend their boot camp graduation they will have to their own way to get their. Also the recruit is usually limited to 4 maybe 6 guests. Your friend is either telling you lots of lies or living in la la land.
Even when the recruit graduates from boot camp they will only get a ticket from boot camp to their follow on school. Then they will get a ticket from their follow on school to their first command. If they want to travel home after they get done with their schooling they will have to pay out of their own pocket for any extra cost it will cost to get them to wherever home is and then on to their first command.
Nothing is ever free unless the Marines buy you a ticket to go to school somewhere or to a command.

Wow many parents and people wish this was true! But NO it is not true, while you can get tickets to attend the ceremony how you get to the ceremony is upon the people who want to attend who must pay all of their own transportation and lodging.

They will get tickets to watch the ceremony. That means that they can get on the base. All air travel and hotel accommodations will be up to the individuals.
