about the cuba missle crisis. is it true that Americans built missle silos in Cuba in the 50's. my granddad was a marine, and was stationed in cuba in the 50's. my dad says he was there helping build missle silos. this claim is strengthened by the fact that he was a metal worker. is there some dark passage of this part of history

Sergeants, when you find yourselves walking around post, nitpicking about the appearance of random objects that have NO RELEVANCE except in a book of regulations in which you may find yourselves asking rhetorical questions to those "below" you such as: "What's that string hanging out of your pocket?" you're just giving everyone the impression of the following: that you DO NOT have anything to do, that you want to feel like something big and important, that you are an incapable "leader" and you were probably promoted by default and that you may have repeated the 4th grade 3 times since you still use that awful phrase that starts with a big H. Morons.

my step-son [14-years old ] counterfeited a lot (less than $100 worth) of bus tickets, which he used to go to school. He was recently caught by the bus driver using one of them and not to mention that there are also surveillance cameras. I don't know whether charges are pressed against him. I should include that this is his first offense and he is extremely remorseful. Also, the city Iive in is planning on "getting tough on crime" since we were ranked the top city when it comes to crimes committed by juveniles and adults. I just wanted to know what are his chances in being sent to a juvenile facility and for how long if this is counted as a FELONY (not misdemeanor)? I was thinking about resolving this issue w/ the company but i'm not so sure what is the best way to resolve it? Based on what i have observed, they are mean to the children (always yelling and cursing at them; they don't seem that merciful), and that's holding my stepson and me back. and please no nasty remarks...

The U.S. "owes" a certain amount of money (in the billions) to the U.N. However, I also read that Congress contributes a significant amount of money to the United Nations every year to allow it to continue functioning. Is this true? How much money do we give the U.N. every year not including repayment of debts? If you could include a citation and a website I would be very appreciative.

unemployment is at 4 percent , lower that it ever was under clinton . interest rates are great , housing is up , stock market is setting record days , people have more money now , than ever before , we all got a tax break ! so what is the problem ? dont you want a safe country to live in ?

First of all, the fact that he did a 180 is not the point of this question.

The point of this question is that as recently as 7 years ago, conservatives believed Democrats were too eager to launch America on foreign adventures. They complained that we had over stretched our military and said such things as you can support the troops but not the war in regard to the Balkan war. They called it "Clinton's War."

That was only seven years ago, and yet every once in a while, I hear some cons say today's Dems are nothing like FDR and Truman, etc. They seem to be saying today's Dems are not willing to wage war when needed, but that's not what they were saying as recently as 7 years ago.

Not me! I have a 1768 Brown Bess musket from the Revolutionary War I inherited when I was 9. I got an 8mm Mauser from WWI when I was 11. I inherited my late father's gun collection as well. See Gods and Generals? I have one or two of each weapon. See Saving Private Ryan? I have one of each of those guns (that are legal for me to own) also. I am a Civil War Reinactor and a target shooter who qualified expert in the service. I even have the Japanese Arisaka rifle and bayonet that my grandfather was stabbed in the leg with! (AND the 45 pistol he shot the man with who tried to kill him on Iwo Jima with it.) The rifle is a "last ditch" model and crudely made but the bayonet is razor sharp. The markings on it say it was made in Nagoya. I have two Civil War Calvary Sabers and an origional 1850's "pepperbox" revolver. All told, I have about $15,000 worth of guns in my three safes. I will NOT hand any one of them over just because Hillary intends to say so!
