Our Government is divided into three branches.

The Judiciary: It consists of our court system.. and the highest court in our Country is the Supreme Court. They can not write laws, they interpret laws and determine if the laws are constitutional.

The Legislature: It consists of our Senate and House of Representatives. The Senate is made up of 2 senators from each state, the House of Representatives is made up of representatives based on the percentage of population from each state (for example, a state with a large population.. like Texas .. has more representatives than a state with a smaller population.. like Mississippi). The Legislature writes our laws. The Senate must approve appointments made by the President (including Supreme court nominations)

The Executive Branch: This branch consists of the President and all of his cabinet members. The President can veto bills from the Legislature (which means they do not become law) and he is the commander and chief of our military. He appoints judges to the Supreme court.

Hope that helps!

OK one is a branch of government (Supreme Court) and the other is 1/2 of another branch of government.

Senate is one of the 2 groups that make up Congress which is our Legislative branch of government. This branch is responsible for the majority of government functions and deals with the creation and repeal of laws. Congress is made of the Senate which consists of 100 people (2 from each state) and is lead by the Vice-President (but he can only vote in event of a tie), and the House of Representatives which has over 300 members and is decided based on population of state and is led by the Speaker of the House. For a bill to pass Congress it must be approved by both sides (except in cases when House can override Senate with a 3/4 vote)

Supreme Court the is Judicial branch of government which oversees the legal system and makes sure that the other 2 branches stay within the confines of the Constitution.

The judges of the Supreme Court are nominated by the 3rd branch, the President, but it is the Senate of Congress which confirms those nominations.

One difference?

There are a lot of differences.

The Senate is part of Congress, which is the Legislative branch of the federal government -- they pass laws (among other things).

The Supreme Court is part of the Judicial branch of the federal government. They interpret law and rule whether laws are Constitutional or not.

There are 9 justices on the Supreme Court.

There are 100 Senators (2 from each state).

The justices are nominated by the President; the Senate has to confirm them to put them on. The terms are for life (or until they retire).

Senators are elected by voters in their state. Their term is 6 years; every 2 years, 1 third of them are up for re-election.

If you type "Constitution of the United States of America" into your favorite search engine, you can read all about it.

There's a great website that will answer your questions about all 3 branches of the Government; Executive (president), Legislative (Congress and Senate) and the Judicial (Supreme Court). The Legislative branch makes the laws and the Judicial branch upholds those laws or rules them Unconstitutional. Each branch balances the other so that our Government is well rounded and no one area has more power than the other.

The senate makes the laws and the Supreme court rules on them. They are different branches of government. The supreme court is appointed by the Prsident. Senators are elected.

The senater is an elected body of politicians and is the upper chamber for passing laws etc.

The supreme court is a court of law that is the highest you can goto (appeal to) and it's decisions can have an effect on laws current and past. it can make decisions with regards to whether a law or such is constitutional and thereby possibly forcing the gov't to make changes to the law.

frequently, Circuit Courts are trial courts which handle some very severe crimes...felonies, like homicide, rape, an excellent form of drug possession or flow. it honestly relies upon on the State to what point situations flow to Circuit courtroom quite than to a decrease point of courtroom. extremely, Circuit courtroom is the utmost point of courtroom of trial courtroom in the state. If somebody feels their case became into wrongful desperate, they charm to the State very proper courtroom, and probable to the U. S. very proper courtroom. To the proper of my understanding, Circuit Courts do not usually guard appeals from decrease courts. returned, it relies upon on how the State courts are set up. frequently, the Circuit Courts attempt the greater severe crimes or choose the greater severe themes. The State very proper courtroom okays their selection or not...and then there is the possibility of charm to the U. S. very proper courtroom, which if it concurs to hearken to the case can effect in a distinctive answer. If the U.
