If we are going to invade a country can we at least let it be for selfish reasons? Americans like big cars and long road trips. That requires a lot of gas. Iraq has gas and we need it. Plus we're sitting on a half trillion dollar military. Yes, yes. I know it's wrong but I'm a Democrat and I would support this war if we could turn Iraqi crude into good ole American gasoline. Cheap too. I have a big SUV and it's a guzzla. But hell. I am completely opposed to invasion of an oil rich country while gas creeps up to 3.25 per gallon. I say pull the troops out now if that's the case.

Now that it comes out she resigns from the committee. She needs to be investigated for her votes, actions as a committee chair and ranking member. Plus her junkets to see military bases her husband was constructing should solicit an ethics charge and fine for improper use of government funds.

I have been shot at and have shot. Morale is down because we know our own people are giving the terrorists hope that if they keep fighting long enough, the anti-war left will eventually win our internal war, and we will pull out. I am all for charging Bush and his cronies AFTER the war, but please dont continue disrespecting us. Even if just 1 troop dies due to the terrorists fighting hard because they know of your desent, then you LIBERALS will have blood on your hands. Dont say "Bush has thousands of troops blood on his hands". We can and if there was wrongdoing should put him on trial to proove it after the war.

What has happened to the West? It seems to me that when a country "punches us in the throat" we then want to talk to them about why they did it. We have the power to "punch" them back for it, but instead we would rather psychologically analyze why they did/are doing this. It’s disgusting!

I served for 4.5 (98-02) years in the US military and I can’t believe how weak we act when in fact we have undefeatable capability. I know, I have seen it first hand. Sure you don’t want to start WW3, but you atleast need to stand up to this kind of thing. Also, I understand talk first and shoot later, but talking can only get you so far. When those talks don’t work, you don’t continue to talk, you act. Today, its talk, talk, talk, talk, more talk, ok ok, we will talk, and then we finish by talking.

It’s unfortunate that some people believe more in talk than action. I think its time for a little less talk and alot more action. Do you?

The line above will be the 30 second TV adds used in Nov. 2008. In a mostly party line 51-47 vote, the Senate signed off on a bill providing $123 billion to pay for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It also orders Bush to begin withdrawing troops within 120 days of passage while setting a nonbinding goal of ending combat operations by March 31, 2008.

The Senate vote marked its boldest challenge yet to the administration's handling of a war, now in its fifth year, that has cost the lives of more than 3,200 American troops and more than $350 billion.
"We have fulfilled our constitutional responsibilities," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., told reporters shortly after the vote.
If Bush "doesn't sign the bill, it's his responsibility," Reid added.

1. He did not personally write down and preserve any ideas or correspondence (nor did Jehovah write anything personally, as is the idea with the 10 Commandments.)
2. The stories were not written during his lifetime, and huge chunks of biography are missing (teen years, twenties.)
3. There were many story versions (see the Gnostics) and only a few of them were arbitrarily chosen as canonical by a bunch of "bishops" some 250 years later.
4. The stories were transcribed by hand for 1300 years, resulting in different versions (such as lines added to the end of "Mark.")
5. Who ever came up with the idea the stories were inspired? That's silly because in the earliest years, they were merely considered an "expression" of spirituality. The stories themselves don't claim inspiration.

There are major flaws with religion, so people need to calm down and get more rational before the world has a nuclear war.

Have you noticed that almost all politicians are lawyers? It is my opinion that lawyers keep our laws complex to secure themselves with power.

When will complex laws be made simple and straight forward, and when will Americans have equal representation?

She said that fire could not melt steel. I am from Pittsburgh and every child that goes through our public school system is taught about the history of the city a major portion of that being the steel industry. How did they use industrial furnaces in the process of making steel, if the steel could not be melted by fire (ie heat)? Did I misunderstand what she said?

I find that any party with any lasting power, eventually builds bad habits and tends to lend an ear to only the most lucrative voice. This is Republicans and Democrats and I guess ANY party that takes power for a prolonged amount of time. I guarantee you the same old habits and lobbyists will be waiting for Republicans when they get back in power, just like they were when Democrats got back in in November. Its the same old leaders, handing down recommendations to the best asskissers taking their place. The cycle continues. Democrats tell us things will be much different when they get in power, but they will do the same as the Reps. They will address the most current, headline issues and deal with them accordingly. Then they will slip back behind the whitehouse curtain and Americans will stop paying attention. Thats when all the bad stuff happens. When nobodies looking. People tend have a "sports" mentality about politics, and its real bad for us.
