You are so right - they are supposed to be SOLDIERS. That used to mean something.

Patton is rolling in his grave.

Soldiers are not trained to aid the enemy like this.

No wonder the enemy thinks they can get away with what they do.

I imagine if not under the threat of death and torture not only to themselves but to the rest of the crew (this is where a woman in uniform becomes a testy issue) they would not. You can't judge others for this. Once all are free, I have no doubt they will retract these statements. On the other hand, if they were speaking LIVE to the media or red cross officials, then they might dare speak the truth or slip a coded message. The last time (another issue of heated debate) this happened they blindfolded the British hostages, had them stand in a ditch and fired off machine guns to scare them. We have to remember Iran is trying to provoke a attack to get the sympathy and alliance of arab nations behind them. They are all watching this situation to decide whether they can jerk the UK/USA around on a string. The consequences must be swift, decisive, and such that neither Iran nor any other country pulls this crap again. PS raping female servicepeople happens quite often in such capture situations, but they don't like to admit this for fear of causing negative bias towards the culture.

If they were coward they would not be in that position in the first place. It is easy to criticise people who are hundreds of miles away in a foreign country fighting a battle that they did not choose. Ho do you know what pressure was put on them to read the confessions? Did they threaten the other hostages? I think they will be well aware that the West will discount the authenticity of the confessions, because it is well understood that you can be forced to do things you would not normally do in extreme situations.

It must be great being someone as brave and perfect as you. You've never been in that position so pound sand!
Anyone with a lick of common sense knows those people are being made to read those comments. Consider what other fanatic Muslims have done to their captives, what would YOU do to stay alive? Or would you stand up and tell the captors to shove it? Right! Our men in POW camps in Viet Nam read ridiculous statements as they were being filmed, too, and made signs that it was all BS.
Until you walk a mile in their shoes, you should be careful what you say. YOU'RE the disgrace for putting down the British captives. Maybe you'd trade places with them to save their lives? They are only minutes away from possibly being beheaded.
I'd like to say EXACTLY how I feel about your and your disgusting accusation, but I don't feel like playing games with those chuckle heads at YAHOO when you go running to them because I insulted you.

Spoken like someone who has 1) Never served a day in uniform, and 2) has no idea what it's like to be held captive by a hostile nation, being completely unsure of whether or not you're going to live to see the next sunrise, and being 100% helpless.

You have NO IDEA - NONE - of what those people are going through, so may I suggest you STFU and wait to see what happens when they get released? Then and only then the truth of what went on will come out.

(Here's a hint: ask someone who is experienced in interviewing and interrogation techniques what he/she saw in the non-verbal movements, gestures, and facial expressions of the girl in the first video. Can you say, "DURESS?")

Have you ever been held hostage? Have you ever had your life at risk...held by people that had the power to end it? How can you sit in judgment of these people when you yourself have not been in that situation.

What is a disgrace and shameful is you and this question.

How can you make a claim like that !!! As a prisioner their main goal is to survive in any way that they can. You may think that they are cowards but in fact they are trying to live to fight on another day. You need to walk a mile in their boots before making a statement like that.

No they are a bunch of very scared young men and woman. We do not know what pressures were brought to bear upon them to confess. Remember the Muslims don't play by our rules.

You are a disgrace to your country. You can't even imagine what it is like in their place. You have no idea what is happening to them up until they read any confessions. You have no business critisizing them and you should be ashamed of yourself.

All soldiers and sailors are trained not to piss off their captors. They are following their training and it will stop them from getting beaten to death.

Everyone with more than room temperature IQ knows that these statements are being coerced and will be retracted as soon as they are free.

Have you ever taken Escape and Evasion training? Do you know what they are taught?
