The media has a strange way of doing things but for sure one thing you can bet on is that the media won't tell a story unless there's "sensationalism" in the story.
Sadly, there are thousands of runaway children of which the media pays less attention to.
As mentioned by the other here, placing "fliers" or posters around the community will help and also may attract the attention of the media.
Once a police report is completed there are several means of which the police get the information out. One means is through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) administered by the FBI. This system goes nationwide where every law enforcement agency becomes aware of the missing child.
You may also wish to contact the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at their website below for further guidence.
Best wishes.

It all depends on the circumstance, and age. Missing, and runaway are two different things. I'm sure all parents who have missing/runaway children would like to have this information on the news. At least I hope so. You could always call, or visit the local news office, and talk to them. I'm sure the Police are following up on your report.

How old is your daughter? For example, in NYS it is actually legal for a 15 yr old to leave home. So there isnt much the police can do. If she left home voluntarily there may not be that much concern in law enforcement or in the media. I'm sorry, but you may want to hire a private investigator or to the sleuthing yourself, as that may be the only real option you have.

If you are serious, call a good private investigator and have him track her down. Poice detectives are busy investigating Murders, rapes and drug crimes and are so back logged they will probably never even try to track down your daughter. A good PI should be able to do it or you could also do it yourself, buy and read the books- "The Private Investigators Handbook" by Chuck Chambers and also "The Complete Idiots Guide to Private Investigating" by Steven Kerry Brown (Don't laugh at the title, its a GREAT book) with these books even if you don't try and find her yourself, you will know what your investigator has to do and how he'll do it. Good luck to you!

Sue the city or state or county or whoever wont help you. If your daughter has been missing nearly a year and they wont act that is gross negligence. Find a lawyer and **** them every which way including Sunday!!!!!!!!! I am certain that if you do this they will be forced to act.

Just don't worry about it.
My expert opinion is that you're trying to be too controlling. You're daughter is probably out there living life - why do you want to hold her back? By the age of 12, every child is fully ready to move out on their own.
"The will to survive is in man's nature". Meditate on this, while singing the Whitney Houston song "I Will Survive".
That is my professional advice based on 25 years of being a psychiatrist. Alot of it is just rephrasing the source website.
