The conventional wisdom is that neither Pelosi nor Reid can rally the two-thirds majorities in their respective houses to accomplish this, but given the geometrically worsening situation in Iraq and the fact that the joint committee may not deliver a final product for a vote for some time, I think there is a substantial chance that enough decent Republicans will join an override vote to basically shut Bush down and end this horrible war.

It is very simple matter to settle by negotiating with Iranians.
India and Pakistan faces similar situation now and then and they get settled the issues by negotiations, U.K., should also negotiate with the Iran Government and settle the matter of tresspassing of Iran territory by British sailors.

Democrats have been claiming for years that it was fine and dandy for Clinton to fire all 93 US Attorneys because (defying logic) "that's not political", when in fact that is the definition of political.

Which leads us to the question: why are Democrats telling so many lies about the firing of a mere 8 US Attorneys?

It is once again an attempt by Democrats to prevent Republicans from acting within the law by accusing them of dark, sinister motives. Just like when Republicans try to campaign in the South (because they want to attract racists, of course) or defend ethics (because they are controlled by the extreme religious right).

Those lies won't stand. Not here.

The President can explicitly, under color of law, hire and fire AT WILL throughout his terms in office. To claim otherwise is at best ignorant and at worst deliberately deceptive.

The brave Iranian Republican Guards forced a female British soldier to write an abrasive letter towards England. Now the world is seeing just how honorable Iran truly is. I guess the Iran government thinks this will make them giants in the eyes of the West. However, this is an example of piracy and ruthlessness. This makes the Persian movie even more believable.

I saw my first soldier die my 2nd month in Iraq. Kept having this idiot theist from arkansas with a college degree (in religious studies no less; kinda seems like getting a degree in astrology to me but yeah) yammer on about how "it's god's plan" and asking me to talk about it with him. First thing i asked him was, "sir, don't they allow atheist chaplains?" He was offended. I found it a bit offensive myself that i had to talk to some idiot that thinks the earth has only existed for 10,000 years about my first confrontation with gory death. What makes him an expert? Why couldn't i have had someone who had a realistic view of the world to talk to?

Would prejudice be part of it? Would poverty, drugs, and crime play in this equation? How come Hispanics have faired better than Blacks in the U.S.A?

What if the anti-gun Brady Campaign found out one of their paid staffers was a gun-toting NRA member?

Or suppose that Hillary Clinton's campaign found out a staffer was a "big fan" of the conservative Newt Gingrich?

What if an abortion mill found out that one of their recently-hired nurses was a devout, pro-life Christian?

Or how about if the Gay And Lesbian Alliance learned that one of their paid staffers was a "breeder" ?

Or what if one of Al Gore's underlings bought a gas-guzzling SUV?

Me, I'm an optimist. I naturally tend to look on the bright side, so maybe I'm wrong. But before Bush invaded Iraq, nearly half the country supported a war without a UN resolution. Today, only 27% do.

So we've gone from being bitterly divided to being increasingly united. Isn't that a good thing, regardless of your politics?

My husband is currently in school for criminal justice and wants to be a police officer. In 2002 he was driving home from the bar..stopped at a red light..and another drunk driver plowed right into him. The other driver was given a breathalizer and obviously failed..and the police officer gave my husband a breathalizer because he had to under the circumstances and he was just over the limit. He was charged with a 4th degree DUI..it is only a misdemeanor. If it helps to answer my question he was charged in Minnesota..and we plan on moving to Wisconsin and he would be a police officer there. He doesn't have anything else on his record..no traffic tickets or anything. Does anyone know how strict either state is when hiring police officers?
