the only problem is that to get this bill on the desk of the president it took every democrat in the senat to vote yes on it and it was largely voted by party lines. that means about 52 for and 48 against. long way to go to get the 2/3 you are looking for. so i would have to say not very likely

It depends how long the troops go without getting funds at all. Because the Democrats can keep other bills to fund the troops from passing, or even coming up to a vote. After a while, some Republicans may vote for a bill that at least gives the surge plan a shot before shutting down the war.

Impossible. The vote in the Senate was 50-48 to pass the bill with 2 abstaining. This means that 16 votes, mostly Republicans, will need to be swayed to override the veto. The vote in the House was 218-214 with 3 not voting, meaning 72 votes will need to be swayed to override the veto. Neither of these scenarios is likely.

This is political high-stakes chicken.
If Bush vetoes, as he said he would, the Dems will immediately pounce and headlines will read "Bush Vetoes Money for Troops", "Bush Vetoes Troop Support" and so on.
If he fails to veto, then he is stuck with a timetable.
An override is a distant possibly. It will depend on how well the Dems attack his veto on supporting the troops. They do it well, better chance. They screw it up, no way.
I think he will veto. Then the fireworks will fly as both houses try and compromise on this emergency funding for the troops.

Just about zero percent. House democrats had to buy votes just to squeeze by with 50.6% of the vote.
Secondly, unless you have served in this war, you have no idea what it's like. I'm not pro-war, and no one is. It's just that this war accomplishes much more good than they cover on CNN, CBS News, ABC News, NBC News, Air America, and National Public Radio. Of course, that isn't hard, seeing as they don't cover ANY of the good; that simply doesn't sell their agenda. I see good every day, but then I'm privy to the most unbiased source in the world: first hand knowlege.

I think the Republicans, if they want a seat at all in 2008, better start thinking about their lousy voting patterns!
Though I don't think that they have enough votes for an override, so we can just see more of our kids, and more of their kids, killed for the remaining time Bush has. Not good news for anyone but those who profit off of a war, and that's why he wants no strings!~ He probably also wants to go into Iran!
And Bush is lying about the wounded!. He claims 32,000 have been wounded. If that is the case, why is the VA Hospitals seeing 105,000 wounded from Iraq?
Impeach him!

Not likely. But the fact that Bush got "challenged" openly over this is a start.

He did already say that he would veto so Im pretty sure he's going to do it. The President is somewhat predictable.
