My friend drives a honda, and has those racing car parts added to his car. He's been pulled over several times, and has been asked to pop the hood of his car while the cops look to see if he has the illegal parts. He keeps getting the tickets, and getting pulled over.

But I want to know is it legal for a cop to pull you over and check the what's under the hood of your car? If he wasn't doing anything else that would have required him to be pulled over, is this legal? Can he refuse to pop his hood?
Any suggestions for getting around the law (besides taking the car parts out like I've suggested!)

Here is the story-I was in jail for 3 months for misdemeanor charges. I had a house with a relatives name on the deed along with me.I had bought out their interest in the home 3 years ago but never signed it over to me.While in jail, this person sent emails to my girlfriend claiming that she had information that I had 'cheated' on my gfriend, would have more charges pressed on me,and used language like"he will pay"I'm full of infomation on who he cheated on you with","good luck living on welfare" ect.The person then got a deal going with a 'buy quick" homebuyer co. and i was led to believe that if i did not sign papers to sell,my relationship would be ruined.I could only make outgoing calls,so i had no way of contacting the buyers. The buyers had not contact with me at all.a deed was signed under duress.i was on psychiatric medicine.closing papers were forged in my name.evidence of buyout was destroyed.bank won't help. How can the buyout money be accounted for?what can i do?I was extorted!

Islam started out with violence, Mohammed himself leading armies, forcing people in North Africa and the Middle East to convert at the edge of a sword? I am not saying all Muslims are bad, just the ones who will blow themselves up to kill innocents.

Many judges violate the boundaries of their office by legislating from the bench. What can be done to deter abuse by judges that are essentially subversive to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution?

I am curious to understand how there are so many people in this country who don't have a CLUE about US foreign policy, what it is, how much it truly costs, how we are lied to about it, etc. I believe this ignorance is purposeful: When I was in highschool I was taught NOTHING about U.S. imperialism and it was alive and well waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back then, too.

This leader was pivotal in convincing Gandhi that Nehru should have been made the first prime minister of India; since then he publicly admitted to it being the gravest mistake in his entire life. He was so disillusioned with Nehru that he later became the 'patron saint' of a new party called 'Swantantra' party, and members of this party included ex-Congress members(who were more right wing in nature).

So, with all of the anti-war sentiment out there, the peace movement has started to rear its head again. I don't mean people calling for peace or an end to the current war in Iraq, I mean dyed in the wool pacifists. People who really believe war is evil and unjustified.

My question is this: how possibly can a reasonable person be a pacifist? I can understand protesting certain wars, as I am sypathetic to the idea that not all wars are just. However, how can anyone believe that all war is unjust? Especially given all of the problems throughout history that have been solved with war (Nazism, fascism, slavery, etc.).

So, pacifists, defend your position. Provide me with even a glimmer of a reasonable argument and you get the 10 points.

Anti-pacifists. Tell me when you think war is just. If no pacifist convinces me, I'll give the 10 to someone who provides a useful definition of just war.

Gotta be honest...I'm not betting on the pacifists...

Why are we the only ones to have militarily used the atomic bomb? Why does a country kill a few of us and we try to wipe their race off the planet but get sick when we speak of Hitler and the Jews? I'm pretty sure we did the same thing to American Japanese. We sanction 3rd world countries and kill 100s of innocents to hurt the few. We consider Muslims evil yet all military personal are swarn to defend America from all enemies foreign and domestic too? Are we not the new Babylon? Are we not the new Rome?

Before you try to bash me and question my patriotism, I'm an 8 year veteran in the Marine Corps. But, by all means use your God givin' right of freedom of speech.

There are political extremists on both sides of the spectrum. Whether it is ultra conservatives calling liberals "godless" (Ann Coultier) or a pious liberal calling our solders "stupid" (100% John Kerry); radicals exist in this democratic system whether we like it or not.
The questions is whether or not radicalism can produce results. I believe that it cannot. For example, many citizens want social security privatized. Now say some politican says that it should happen now and we should be able to control our future moneywise or something "terrible" will happen soon. So the government agrees with them and they change the law to make social security entirely private. With only theoretical evidence that this will succeed it is logical to say it is a very risky thing to do.
I believe that many people want rapid change in America. We should undergo "free trials" of new systems to ensure they are productive.
Any socialists, communists, fascists, or aristocrats who want to argue?
