I'm going to graduate in about 9 months with a degree in chemical engineering. I was if you joined the armed services you start as a higher rank with a college degree in engineering and chemical engineering is considered the most versitile.

was wondering...would they put you on a non combat path off the bat. I figure basic training is a must.......and i know i can do that.....i was in marital arts for 10 years and my instructor was a seal. I bet the seal training is tougher.....but my 8 days a week of training (yes 8..not a typo)....i think i can handle that.

Just was thinking if they put you into a combat with a higher rank....you wouldn't really be qualified to lead other people into battle.

In the end...my question i s...would you be respected if you did that.

My daughter knowingly put her younger friend into a dangerous position by talking her into running away with her. My daughter is a chronic runaway, and nearly gets killed every time she runs. Her last run culminated in a warehouse fire that nearly killed her, and the time before that she was assaulted. Her friend is now in the hospital as a result of similar injuries to those my daughter always ends up with. My daughter, although threatened by a judge with time in juvenile hall every time, has never suffered legal consequenses for her actions and has not learned from her own mistakes. Something has to be done. It would probably save her life if we could teach her a lesson. She did know from past experience that running away to live on the streets is dangerous, and she willingly put her naive young friend in that position. If she wants to be free like an adult, she should suffer adult consequenses when she makes a bad decision.

Iran is an independant sovereign country. What gives USA the right to demand that Iran must cease nuclear activity, that it cannot develop nuclear power and that it has no right if it so wishes to use the byproduct for military development as the USA already does.

When Dick Gheney was specifically asked if the USA had plans to attack Iran his best answer was that he could not rule out anything.

By what right can the USA attack, or even threaten to attack, another country for developing technology which many other countries already have and when the USA is even spending billions of dollars to upgrade their own nuclear arsenal.

I don't see how anyone can reasonably argue with the response of the president of Iran when he said that he was willing to agree to discontinue nuclear activity before comming to the negotiating table providing that the same rule applied to every country at the table, including the USA.

We can begin the damage control after they are gone and banished from power.

Why are there war and terrorisim around when leaders can sort it out peacefully? Is it the nation's interest that is at stake or is it the interest of the leaders at stake? Why cant the leaders just settle the differences with a game of Counter Strike instead? We need no war but compromise and understanding. I wish you guys well...

Young Iraqi Veterans, alienated and often living on their own for the first time, Iraq and Afghanistan veterans increasingly are coming home to find that they don't have a home. Already, nearly 200,000 veterans—many from the Vietnam War—sleep on the streets every night, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs. But young warriors just back from the Mideast—estimated around 800 to 1,600—are beginning to struggle with homelessness too. However, the rich Republicans who supported the war do not help "OR" do not care about the Veterans. This is the Republican way and it will always be the Republican way to tell the returning Veterans "Sorry! You're on your own".

district has to provide us with potable water. The county water district requires us to pay usage fees. The say WE own the well, but THEY own the water. The water they are providing us with contains nitrates and the state is shutting our well down. This will leave us with no water. Is anyone else in a similar situation. The local government is providing us with tainted water and the state is requiring us to fix it... Any ideas?

I'm tinking of writing a column to the local newspaper.
This one question has really been bugging me since i was a young boy.
I always wanted to know why are there so many laws to put criminals in their tracks but never a law abolishing prostituion.
Also why isn't goverment doing more to help the poor people peddling themselve on the streets?
What good is a developed nation if a country allows such morally sinful acts to run within the country.

I am not 100% sure if I will join, but I have serious thoughts about it. I told them about it my senior year of high school and they thought I was nuts. If I join, it won't be for two years (until i graduate from college) I want my parents to support me, but i feel they may not since it could potentially kill me. I also feel that this is something I want to do, but I feel that this may be too much of a sacrifice to my parents. Am I being selfish or should I just do want I want with my life?

IT IN 2007?

I AM NOT SORRY IN THE LEAST FOR THE SINS OF MY GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GRANDFATHERS SINS.

IT'S A TERRIBLE SHAME FOR WHAT HAPPENED TO SOMEBODY, BUT NONE OF US DID IT. AND NONE OF THOSE ALIVE EVER HAD TO SUFFER THROUGH WHAT HAPPEND. SO IS THIS A WASTE OF TIME?

IF YOU ASK ME, THE BLACKS THAT ARE HERE NOW LEAD A MUCH BETTER LIFE THAN IF THEY HAD BEEN LEFT IN THE JUNGLES OF AFRICA. WHAT GIVES?

I AM NOT A RACIST EITHER. IF SOMEONE IS ALIVE WHO LIVED THROUGH SLAVERY, PAY THEM FOR IT. BUT THERE ARE NONE LEFT. SORRY.

NONE OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS WERE EVER SLAVE OWNERS SO I SHOULD NOT BE PUNISHED FOR IT.

I would like an honest answer to why you believe we are in Iraq. I typically hear conservatives say that we were attacked on 9/11 therefore we had to invade Iraq, but I am quite curious to know why no one was advocating war with Saudi Arabia if we were merely seeking a reprisal.
