I'm tinking of writing a column to the local newspaper.
This one question has really been bugging me since i was a young boy.
I always wanted to know why are there so many laws to put criminals in their tracks but never a law abolishing prostituion.
Also why isn't goverment doing more to help the poor people peddling themselve on the streets?
What good is a developed nation if a country allows such morally sinful acts to run within the country.

Most place it's illegal.
thats why i'm against the allowing of protituition in singapore.

It is just sux seeing the country so well developed and every citizen having a comfortable living while these poor gals from ther countries are in singapore earning money the HARD way.

I feel shameful as a human being seeing that these acts are not condone

Holyfire i cannot agree with that since prostituition stems from proverty and unavailability of decent jobs that pays inproportion to the standard of livings.

To verda

prostituition in singapore is openly public.
And for fake sake,U should bang urself.
Ur saying that since these gals are not voicing anything out, they're enjoying what they are doing?
Great,IGNORANCE at it's best.

A world is a better place with ppl like me and other who tinks prostituion should be abolish?
Now i see where this is coming from,It's coming from a pimp who frequent these gals on a frequent basic.

U shld stfu, the world would be a better place without u pimps and dog goverment official if they would spend more on pulling ppl out of the proverty instead of just pursuing economic.

Da *** is this ugly world.

I believe in free choice but Know that this is not even a case of choices.
No doubt there are ppl out there who wants a quick buck by selling their body,i have no say.
But how many of the sex workers on this earth enter the trade with a smile?

How many do u think when they were young shouted "i'm ma gonna be a top notch prostituite so kudous to that!"
I seriously doubt so.

don't get me wrong,i'm not against freedom of choice but what i'm addressing now is the way the goverment deals with things.
I dare safely say that 99% of the sex worker enter this trade is due to their enviroment -proverty.
And to top that,Top official from developed country and official from the UN are not making significant improvment to help these ppl.

One day,u take a bus past your local redlight and look at those poor women selling themselve,it's all saddening i tell u.

No,i do not tink of prostituition as sinful or immoral.

The immoral i'm refering to here is we humans are not doing anything to help these women.
A well developed country where i'm living in and that is constantly bringing in new attractions and investing billions of dollar locally and globally cant even spend some millions helping these women from the neighbouring countries makes me ashame.
Without any aid from developed countries, these women are left to fend for themselve, allowing men to exploit them.

Yes u would say this is their choice, but what other choice do they have?

It's really a joke that developed nations who have the industrial might, military superiority and cultral richness are not able to even solve the issue of prostituition by giving finacial aid!

Even if a ban is placed, the trade will never die out.
Earnings are lucative for some women who dont have any skills to get a decent, proper job. And there will always be men out there with weaknesses.

You want to abolish prostitution? Good luck! It will never go away as long as men believe they can buy and sell a woman's, or in many cases, a girl's, sexuality. By purchasing sex with a prostitiute you say that her sexual ability is all she is good for. The spread of HIV and AIDS happens when MEN refuse to wear a condom when they are purchasing a girl. In too many countries men believe non-condom sex with virgins won't spread AIDS. The problem with that is that her first "customer" may be the one to give her AIDS, and because she is "fresh" she will have more customers than the seasoned girls because she is new and different. Men always put the blame for prostitution and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases on women, but it is the MEN who demand women they can buy. Otherwise there would be no market value on a woman's sexuality and no need for prostitution.

You have every right to think of prostitution as sinful and immoral. As a human being you're entitled to your opinions and no one can take that away from you.

However, others may disagree. Others may see prostitution as a legitimate occupation and a great way to make money. They're entitled to their opinions and no one can take that away from them.

Unless prostitution directly affects you, then you have no legitimate claim against it. People should be free to do as they please as long as it doesn't interfere with the rights of others.

It's called freedom of choice.

do you think if you minded your own business every thing would be a lot better? since you are not obligated to partake could you tell me why it should be of concern of yours?
to me the world would be A much better place if people would just leave others alone , of course unless what they do is hurting you and since these prostitutes I am sure don't do their act in public where it would be offensive to such tender folks like you why don't you just leave them alone?

What more can the govt do?? This problem goes back to the beginning of humanity.

Prostitution is called "the world's profession."

prostitution is sin but some men still love it. If you ban it - it will function underground and government cannot control it - STD = HIV may spread wildly. So it it functions in the control of government, the safety will increase and it is also regulated easily!
