It was a major weapon against Bush. People would spout that as their #1 reason for choosing Kerry over him. Yet here we are in 07… with no draft. What happened? And where are the people stepping forward to say they were wrong.
Now as a “preemptive strike,” so that liberals can’t say “When do the Republicans step up and say they’re wrong? Well, it’s being done. Slowly but surely, it’s happening. Republicans are saying that maybe we went about this war wrong. That’s fine and dandy. So don’t answer this question with more questions or accusations. I want answers, no slander. Where are all the people who were so terrified of the draft?

The republicans have started a new strategy of getting stuff named after their dubious leaders while these guys are still alive and you still remember who they are. so it is not too soon to start thinking about the horrid possibility of being forced to use airports and highway rest stops named after dubya. What should we do to avoid this?

I was so upset after watching this on the news last night. They found their very own Cindy Sheehan. I believe this guy lied to his mother so she wouldn't worry about him enlisting in the Army. My husband is an Army recruiter and I know he never lies to potential soldiers. If they ask, he tells them there is always a possibility of going to Iraq. Then they made it sound like the Army is full of drug addicts and ex-cons. This story makes me sick!

I just took the test and I'd put on the form that I was testing for the AF... now I keep hearing about how it's gonna be harder to get into the AF because of the current situations... could I just spontaneously switch over to say, the Army or whatever? Because I want what's best for me and I want what will help me succedd in life and get further.

The USA
The UK
China
Germany
Russia

Which one do you think. I think the UK. Why you ask? Well because Britain is involved in -

The United Nations ( Major Player )
The European Union ( Major Player, Most powerful nation in it )
NATO ( Major Player )
British Commonwealth ( The leader )

Now im not asking who is more powerful but who has the most say. The USA has no say what so ever on the EU, infact the EU has alot of power over the USA in terms of business and US exports. The commonwealth may not have any political power but many nations join because they want to have a system similar to Britain and would like the help we can provide. The EU, although all votes are equal, Britain, France and Germany have a little more power in the fact they are the big 3. Britain is the biggest of the 3 aswell. NATO, only the USA from the west can claim more power than Britain and in the UN the same applys.

Most will say the US and no body will think its any of the other 3 no doubt

There is no solution blah blah blah blah.....
I've got a solution - bring back capital punishment!! What rights do paedophiles, rapists, murders etc, have to be kept in 'luxury' in the prisons with T.V's, computers, etc
They obviously don't care about anybody so why should we have to pay to keep them in jail? Then those who commit lesser crimes will be put in jail, so HOPEFULLY this country will be safer again. Who agrees??

My husband received a paycheck via direct deposit on Jan 31 and quit the next day Feb 1. Now today the company withdrew the paycheck from his account. That paycheck was for the time he worked from Jan15-Jan31. He has a work laptop that is on its way back to the company and they have the shipping number to track it. The company is in Colorado and we're in Virginia. Isn't there some kinda law that protects against this? I honestly think that there is no way they can legally get away with this! We're very upset and have no idea about what we can do about it.

I was charged with some traffic violations from a city police officer. The next day at 1:30 AM he knocks on an obviously dark and slumbering house and I was unable to get to the door before he left. When I woke up later that morning I called the police station and asked them about the preceding night, they took my phone number and said the officer would call me.

When the officer called me back he said that he was calling to inform me they forgot to mark negligent driving on my ticket, he wanted me to mark it on the ticket. He had stated that he had tried to get a hold of me twice prior.

I live in Nebraska, and the ticket was from a Lincoln Police officer in Lancaster county. (I do not know if the rules change from state/county/city)

Can he do this?

I got a ticket in Athens, GA coming home from work, the cops was at the bottom of a hill and at 10:45pm at night with no lights on! Isn't that illegal for them to be at the bottom of the hill and especially with no lights at night? I thought it was state law that anytime a car is occupied at night along a hwy or street, there should be parking or marking lights on, or hazards. I am just building my case to fight the speed trap!

Greenpeace co-founder Patrick Moore told a congressional panel in April that "nuclear energy is the only non-greenhouse gas-emitting energy source that can effectively replace fossil fuels and satisfy global demand." Please see:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2005-06-12-global-warming-cover_x.htm?POE=NEWISVA

Nuclear Energy was popular back in the 70's, but the three mile island scare and Chernobyl show that this energy source if handled incorrectly can be far more deadly than what will happen if global warming is real.

Plus you have the problem of what to do with the nuclear fuel after it is used. It takes about 1,000 years for it to decay enough to be safe. Yucca Mountain is a political hot bed for everyone.

So since Nuclear fuel has long term issues and coal, gas, and oil fired engines increase global warming, do we need to go back to the horse and buggy age to stop this problem?

I don't believe the UN report and have a hard time with the whole issue.

I don't understand how people use the "the government says it's illegal so that's it". I can't understand why people go along with whatever the government says without question as to WHY something is illegal. Have people become so well trained that they actaully believe that if the government says, that's the final word and they know best?

When it comes to certain things...I like to know WHY something is illegal. Is it illegal because it's truly a bad thing or is it illegal for other political reasons.

Sorrry but..."The government said so" doesn't float with me.
