Because as far as Liberals are concerned, human beings are just animals who stand on two legs. They have no self control, and have no desire to learn self control. Besides, animals should act like animals. Abstinence is too much like a thoughtful choice backed by self-respect.

No. However only teaching abstinence in sex education results in more teenage pregnancies than if contraception is taught as an alternative. The right can scream at the left all they want however some of the kids in abstinence only classes are going to have sex. They can either be educated as to how to prevent pregnancy or not. I've already stated what the consequences are of not teaching it.

Abstinence isn't a bad thing if you present it as an option. But the Bush Administration is only pushing abstinence. They will support Abstinence Only programs. They have withdrawn funding to those who teach responsible sexual behavior because they mention other forms of birth control. I come from an area where abstinence only was taught. From personal experience, I saw almost twice the number of females pregnant than I did when I attended schools that taught sex ed including the use of condoms and other birth control methods.
You were also far more likely to catch an STD in that area than you were at the more liberal area I had attended prior.

I am centrist and I think abstinence is an option, not THE option.
About sex education at schools. It's like there shouldn't be chemistry lessons because they're teaching students how to make WMDs

Abstinence resides within the choice of the individual.
Someone can talk to others all day about it, but when push comes to shove...........two people are deciding to have sex with no on lookers.
Only if you had on lookers would abstinence be an arguable defense in a debate.
Abstinence isn't a bad thing at all, it just has to be an individual decision based on one's own thoughts.............preached to or not, we all make those decisions on our own.
Liberal or Consertative..........doesn't matter

I see nothing wrong with abstinence. However, I do see something wrong with abstinence-only education. Like it or not, teens and unmarried adults are going to have sex, so it's best if they're armed with as much information as possible about methods of preventing STDs and unwanted pregnancy. Of course, no method of prevention save abstinence is foolproof, but it's better than nothing. Also, if the students are armed with the statistics, they're better prepared to make wiser decisions.

As you have heard it is against nature to prevent the reproductive cycle and for all the women on birth control who are suffering cancers for taking the little pills it is a shame that you chose to destroy your body and deprive the world of whats most valuable . The next generation .
Which people now have been destroying for 50 years .
When your old and gray I hope you have developed and built the machines that will care for you when no one else wants to change that dipper you will be wearing later on in life .
We where meant to reproduce because many helping hands makes the work lighter for all people .
Failing to grasp this and buying into the me first generation has led you all to a tragic set of choices in which elderly people will have only one choice . A peaceful tranquil death when the burden of caring for you is to great . Laws will be passed for the good of society and you will be given a simple injection as a cost benefit analysis will determine you are no longer useful .

Cause I like sex.j/k. Abstinence is not realistic. The majority of people are going to engage in sexual activity. You can either provide them with the ability to fight disease and pregnancyor you can bury your head in the sand and pretend kids aren't having sex.

Because liberals are immoral and are trying to erode the morality of the children while they are young and impressinable. God is watching, and justice will eventually be done, even to Bill and Hillary Clinton...

abstinence isn't a bad thing, its just fine.
but as a way to curb teen pregnancies and std rates it's an awful policy.
why? because it doesn't work.
if a teacher tells their students "don't have sex otherwise you might get pregnant or an std" are the teens just going to magically listen, no.
but if a teacher tells their students "look, we know you are going to have sex, so let us teach you the safe way to do it" the students are more likely to listen.
in the first scenario the students don't learn about safe sex, and probably have it anyway; which leads to higher teen pregnancy and std rates.
in the second scenario students know how to practice safe sex, therefore lowering teen pregnancy and std rates.
