No. Not if they tell you that you're subject to surveillance.

No. All the employee has to know is there is no reasonable expectation of privacy. Most companies/offices monitor phones calls and computers as well. If they have customers within camera range, either the cameras have to be visible or a sign posted stating that cameras are in use. Employees though have no reasonable expectation of privacy and I would bet somewhere either in the papers the employee signed upon accepting the job, or mentioned at the interview or hiring process it was laid out. Some offices have a policy against cameras or camera phones being brought into the office ---- security issue.

No. The US Supreme Court has ruled that there is NO "reasonable expectation of privacy" in a company-owned office. The company can post both overt (in plain view) and coveret (hidden from view) cameras and do NOT have to tell you that the cameras are there. They are NOT required to post signs, etc when/if the cameras are installed.
Cameras in bathrooms, fitting rooms, and SINGLE SEX changing rooms are illegal everywhere, even in New York as one previous poster incorrectly stated.

No, it is not illegal to have cameras in offices. Some offices also have hidden cameras. This is also legal and it is for security purposes. If you do not like the cameras, you can always choose not to work in that office. It is illegal to have cameras, hidden or otherwise in restrooms.

No its not illegal. And NO they dont have to even tell you about them. The law states that the owner of the property can put cameras up on their own property. As long as they are not violating you (ie. putting them in the bathrooms) there is nothing you can do. Taking this question a step further, did you know that in some states (new York being one of them) a person can legally film someone in the bathroom without their knowledge. Its true!! As long as there is no audio, and they are filming on their property, and not invading your personal property to hide cameras, they can film and there is nothing you can do about it.
