I just got a job as a Police Cadet, which I'm really excited about. I havn't started yet, because I am going through an intense background investigation. Since I have to pass that first, and then pass a polygraph test, the job is not 100% yet...although I know it will be. So, I havn't asked anyone at the police department about the details of my job and what I would be doing everyday. All I know is what they posted online..."process evidence, type reports, answer phones, and do other jobs which sworn in officers do not have the time to do." I doubt that I'll be working in the field, because they would have mentioned that, and besides, they never asked about my physical ability in too much detail. Buuuut, if you think about just the title of the job... "Police Cadet", it sounds like I would probably wear a uniform! The position is not called Office Assistant or anything along that line.
So, do you think I will be wearing a uniform? I kinda would like to...it's sexy!!!

So, being a staunch conservative and politically interested, I cruise these boards everyday.

Will someone please tell me why we go from arguing fact to posting just mean and angry attacks on the USA, Bush and other members of this forum?

How about some well thought out opinions and factual debates that don’t include calling out people by name and ridiculing them personally?

Do you all think we could do that?

I was trying to work my way to management and actually I was training for management. Then, my manager asked me if I was on drugs because I was running around trying to clean our store. I had customers complain about me doing it because she said it in front of customers and now I have no shot at management. My grandmother, my mother, and my husband think I should sue for slander, because in all actuality I was not on any kind of drug. Does anyone have an opinion on this, I really don't know what to do.

I was shocked to read on MSNBC.com that most people think the biggest story of this past year was not midterm elections, not Iraq, not North Korea, not the Isreal- Hezbollah conflict, not even John Mark Karr's fake murder confession, but the death of Steve Irwin. In my opinion, he was a good man, but that's entertainment news! So what do you think was the biggest story and what do you think about Steve Irwin being voted the top story?

I heard a 25 year old guy who just got out of the military today on the radio. He had not been hurt in battle but said that his back hurt to bad to work from having to carry his heavy back pack in the sand. His knee also hurt him. He was mad because the thought when he got back here there would be people lining up to give him a job but turns out there were not. He thinks they should be because he was a soldier even though he as no education beyond high school. He also said he could not bowl anymore or be around people because it scared him not after being in Iraq. He drinks now to help the pain. My question is why in the world we would owe him anything but the paycheck he received for doing his job. He is the one who signed up for the military, as far as I know we have not drafted anyone in a long time. It is not my fault he did not chose to get and education and stay the hell out of the army.
