Well harry, isn't it obvious? We're not allowed anywhere, the streets belong to attackers, murderers and thiefs!!! If you go outside you are in the wrong place! Duh! It's not like this is a free country.
Either this is the case or the police can't be ars*d to do their jobs!
Merry Christmas (try not to be in the wrong place on 25th!)

It's not, per say, your in the 'wrong' place at the 'wrong' time. It's that if you were not there at that specific time of day then you would not have been attacked. Same thing goes when your in a car accident. Lets say your at a stop sign and some moron just come and crashes into you and you wern't even moving. Well, the rule is that because your 'there' your 20% at fault. Even though you did nothing wrong. Again, the wrong place at the wrong time. You are free to do as you will, but you also risk something everytime you step foot out the door. Hence, insurance.

That must be where the expression "cop out" comes from!

A horrifying number of cases of violent assault in the UK are simply glossed over and those responsible are not brought to justice. The reasons put forward vary greatly, but this seems to beat them all as an all-enveloping excuse.

Maybe a demonstration by victims of assault (or their surviving relatives) in cases where the aggressors were never brought to justice might drive the point home? Would anyone care?

Well, if you are at home and are the victim of a home invasion, you are still in the wrong place at the wrong time aren't you???

You can be quietly sitting in your living room and a drunk driver of a semi could come smashing in and kill you.

You could be sleeping in your bed and an airplane enine could fall from the air and crush you in your bed.

Based on your insight, I'd say we should all kill ourselves. 6 feet under is always the right time and the right place.

Oh...and what is the actual question?

What they mean is that you really couldn't have done anything to prevent the attack. You didn't make any choices that put you in danger, you just happened to be in the wrong place, at the wrong time. And yes, at any time there is always a chance of something completely random happening to you.

A somewhat inane question. Were there any witnesses to the assault?

If you wish to ask questions about law, let us have a full statement.
