WASHINGTON (CNN) — Rep. Silvestre Reyes of Texas, who incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has tapped to head the Intelligence Committee when the Democrats take over in January, failed a quiz of basic questions about al Qaeda and Hezbollah, two of the key terrorist organizations the intelligence community has focused on since the September 11, 2001 attacks.

When asked by CQ National Security Editor Jeff Stein whether al Qaeda is one or the other of the two major branches of Islam — Sunni or Shiite — Reyes answered “they are probably both,” then ventured “Predominantly — probably Shiite.”

That is wrong. Al Qaeda was founded by Osama bin Laden as a Sunni organization and views Shiites as heretics.

Reyes could also not answer questions put by Stein about Hezbollah, a Shiite group on the U.S. list of terrorist organizations that is based in Southern Lebanon.

I'm from Illinois and I got nothing against him, but here's the deal, HE HASN'T DONE ANYTHING WORTH WHILE IN HIS TERM as a senator. He fails to take a solid stand on any real issuse and just tells people what they want to hear, and the media makes him look to be some kind of great hero yet he is way to inexperienced to run for president. Is the media overhyping him so he can give the Democrats back the White House? With his inexperience and all the hype he's getting we need to start taking a closer look.

Is it really just a bunch of geeks surveilling on "suspected" threats to national security, or is it the single largest federal agency dedicated to spying on the citizens of the United States

Well, my friend wants to find a way to get out of the army before he heads off to basic training in May.

He joined withtout much thought about it, and he is graduating college this May.

He really wants to join the peace corps for awhile,

when he gets back, he said he is thinking that he wants to serve in the Air National Guard instead.

First he needs to find his way out, then after a few years, (after his little peace corps thing) he is thinking ANG,

Will they even accept him? or want him?

what are his chances?

Settle an stupid work arguement please...A friend of mine said that if you shoplift and get out the door of the store they can not arrest you, you are home free. But someone else said that they still can copy your tag down and track you to your house and arrest you at a later time if they have probable cause that you stolen something. Or arrest you the next time you enter the store and hold you on probable cause.Which is true? If you steal something and get in to your car and drive away you got away with it? Anyone with law enforcement background please answer as well.

(This is what happens when people have too little to do at work..they argue about stupid stuff wiht no relevence to them!)

Even to the most diehard conservative or neocon, there must be something he did wrong or said wrong while in office. In a separate question I'm also asking liberals to list what he has done right. I'm trying to distinguish between issues of right & wrong and issues of partisan politics.

Please: no name-calling, just a list.

I am currently homeless (well, staying with friends, dont know for how long). My State ID is expired and I was wondering if I will be able to renew it. Can I use a PO Box or would I need a residential address? Also, I cant seem to find my expired ID. Would I need it to renew? They should have all my information already right (Birth Cert. etc.).

Anyone know anything that could possibly help???

This man was hanged in the early 1900s, presumably for murder. There is, apparently, a mention of him in Gunnersbury Park Museum.

Hi Folks,

I have dual citizenship with the US/Canada. I was born in the US and have always used my US passport for travel around Europe.

I just found out I could also legally obtain and use a Canadian passport as well.

Question - is there any obvious benefit of using my Canadian passport (beyond political reasons or US image issues) for travel? Along the lines of Canada being a former British colony, being classified as a "Commonwealth Citizen" etc. ?

I don't even think the Canadian passport will expedite me when entering the UK since it's grouped by EU passports now and not Commonwealth passports.

Any info or insight would be much appreciated. Thanks,
