I think they should be radically altered to give more discretion on a case by case basis. A large number of young men who are currently on the "sex offender" roles were simply caught by the young girl's parents while she was still 16 and he was only slightly older. Do these men deserve to be lumped in the same category as someone who rapes little children? I don't think so.

In Britain the age of consent is 16, neither too old or too young.

Deciding on sex or marriage is every bit as important as the age you can buy alcohol, vote or die for your country, whatever years of age you decide that should be.

16 is fine, although if 2 13 year olds decide to have sex and get caught, they shouldn't both be put on the sex offenders register as happens now. UK.

If they keep on getting lowered you could effectively legalise paedophillia. Which might not be a good thing.
