there seems to be A LOT of people who are strongly against drilling oil in the Alaskan preserve.
They say "what about all those animals and their habitats"

It think it silly.
if you really cared about animals you wouldn't eat the beef at mcdonalds. You wouldn't eat the chicken at KFC. think about how much beef, chicken, venison, hot dogs, ham, turkery, we buy every day at the grocery store to eat.
when we kill those animals, you not killing ants, bee, rats, insects or any kind of life form we consider to be unaware pests. We are killing millions, billions of cows, pigs, dear, chicken, turkeys, etc. every year to eat.
why would it be any different if we made it unlivable for a moderate number of animals to habitate in that part of alaska so that we can access the oil rich region?

The $100 dollar laptop, a project set up by the OLPC (one laptop per child) organization. The idea of it is for it to be used by children in developing countries, and eventually reach a goal of 1 laptop per child. But is this idea actually of any use?
Remember, being poor in a developing country is not like being poor in America/Europe, So the price tag of $100 dollars is simply way too much. Most people don't have access to anything, water, electricity and most of all, schools. So, how will they know how a laptop even works? and also, remember all the services needed for the laptop to work, this includes electricity and an internet connection. You could argue that these are possible by using solar panels etc..etc ..but how much will that cost in total? it would be a far wiser choice for the money to be spent somewhere else. for example : government funded schools, food (!), government services, transport etc etc.

An laptop will never replace a book and a pencil.

What do you think?

I went shopping with a co-worker at the mall. I purchased a few items at another store but ended up at a department store(Where we had parked and walked through). While I was shopping my co-worker offered to hold my some of my bags(She had no bags). She said that she was going to try some things on and carried my bags along with her clothes to try on into the fitting room. When she exited she had my bags and nothing to purchase, saying nothing she tried on fit and handed me my bags back. When we left the store and got into my car I saw her pull a few things from my bag and put them into her backpack(which she had left in my car). I checked later and everything I purchased was in my bags. I think she stole 2 tops that were about $150 each. Can the store copy down my car tag and track me down since she left with me? We look kinda similar, thin and blonde hair. Could they track me down with and charge me, they were my bags to begin with? Could they confuse us and charge me? Help!

Right now we have lots of soldiers, airmen and surface ships involved in Iraq, so what the heck are the "sun dodgers" in our submarines ?

I am sure that they are still performing a role, but what is it ?

work now?

Keep some US troops in Northern Kurdish held Iraq (kurds love the US). Keep some troops in Kuwait. Redeploy some to Afgahistan. Keep US carriers/some marines in Persian Gulf. Make all of Iraq a no fly zone. Bring half of all US troops home. And if major civil war breaks out contain it to Iraq only (don't let Syria or Iran get involved) & once the civil war has been won, bribe them, I mean give them massive US aid, so that they become US friends just like the US does with Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Pakistan, etc....Pretty good plan isn't it? If you have a better way I'd love to hear it.
