My basic pension (Old Age Security) is so low that I couldn't even afford to live in Canada and had to go to Mexico to survive.
I was a mother who stayed home for 16 years while my children were growing up and did not accumulate a great deal in CPP contributions.
How can the politicians justify giving themselves pay increases when thousands of pensioners are living below the poverty level?

One aspect of the immigration issue is that there's a lot of people that come north to work on farms. Not all of Mexico has arable land, but this IS the 21st century. Why not take 21st century ag science, go to Mexico, and set up shop there?
Seawater CAN be converted into irrigation water...farms use pumps/pipes as part of normal daily business, soil improvement is not magic...everyone wants to employ mexican citizens, so why not do it in Mexico, where it'll really help?

Does everyone have rights? Like even kids under 18. I couldve sworn that everyone has the freedom of speech and things as such. Who has the rights? Only people above 18?

Guy Fawkes was famously stopped in the tracks of his attempted act of terrorism (blowing up the houses of parliament). In years to come will we celebrate other proponents of terrorism?

In other words, what is the difference between the bill President Bill Clinton signed into law in 1995 (the so called “Dickey Amendment”) which makes it illegal for Federal money to be used for research where stem cells are derived from the destruction of the embryo, and H.R. 810, which President George Bush vetoed?

I understand that President Bush also provided $100 million in funding for embryonic stem cell research (and that funding wasn’t provided during the Clinton Administration) but I am asking about the bills specifically.
