U.S. law does not restrict a visa just because of some arbitrary income limit. In order to get a tourist visa, the applicant has to prove that they have a residence in their home country which they have no intention of abandoning. For example, a poor mother would like to see her son (who won a scholorship to study at Harvard) graduate from college. She has been saving up money since he began four years ago in order to visit. Her boss of 25 years has given her 2 weeks vacation to make the trip. Just because she's poor, we shouldn't let her see her son graduate? She has a solid steady life back home and she has enough funds to make the trip and return. It's not obvious she's going to overstay, poor or not. Especially since the rest of her family, friends, and everything she's ever known is back in her home country.

In order to get a tourist visa in Mexico to enter the US you pretty much need to be very rich or connected. Those that get them normally are not coming here to look for work.

If they overstay then they do become law breakers but you cannot simply say "No because they will all overstay". I am pretty sure those that overstay are outnumbered by those that simply cross the border illegally by a huge margin.

Mexico is not a poor country. The majority of its people are poor because of a corrupt greedy government.Mexico has much wealth but it belongs to only a very few. With the rest of its people having no hope whatsoever to gain wealth.thru honest means.
I personally think we should have a total moratorium on all immigration for about 10 yrs until we get this problem taken care of.

I think so , but if they're worried of them over staying their visit they could check their background and ask for some type of verification that they will not .

Definately, and the reason is that regardless of the obvious, they are able to contribute to society. I am a firm believer that if you were to hire a poor person, they will help your company much more than another person who is not hungry.
