If it was in fact dismissed, then I wouldn't think so.

Most states it will show up! If you were charged, but it was later dismissed in court the record will most likely show up on court records, but it will say "Dismissed" or "Nolle Processed" next to the charge. Most background screening companies (Reputable) ones who know the law, would not report it. However, if the company you are applying for does it on their own, or through some database, they will probably see it.

Depending on who does the background check and how thorough they are, they may find records of the trial and /or the arrest. A standard records check would only show convictions. On the other hand, if the FBI is running a check for a security clearance, they will interview people you grew up around. There is no telling what someone will remember.

If there was no conviction, there was no felony committed by you.
The question "have you ever been arrested" is a questionable practice by HR people on job applications. You can never (in the US) be guilty of any crime until convicted. In other words, someone who has been arrested is as innocent as someone who has not.
So relax. You get any crap from this event, consult an attorney. There are lots of them around, just for such situation$.
