One aspect of the immigration issue is that there's a lot of people that come north to work on farms. Not all of Mexico has arable land, but this IS the 21st century. Why not take 21st century ag science, go to Mexico, and set up shop there?
Seawater CAN be converted into irrigation water...farms use pumps/pipes as part of normal daily business, soil improvement is not magic...everyone wants to employ mexican citizens, so why not do it in Mexico, where it'll really help?

I think this is a great idea. Mexico has alot of resources but I think the problem is leadership. Their president has to do for the people, their government needs to get involved. The people there are tired of their living conditons and they don't like it any better that their families have to be separated in order to cross the border for work. If Bush can help Iraq, who doesn't want help to begin with , rebuilding it and their army, why can't he assist in transforming Mexico in the best it can be. it would benefit us and them.

Yeah, sounds like a great idea that way mexicans stay in Mexico and work their own farms and that should take care of the immigration problem, but then what are we going to do about the farms in the USA? imagine if all mexicans go back to Mexico, who will then work in the fields? then we'd have a more serious problem, ask the farm owners, I am sure they'd go bankrupt paying much higher wages to Americans if they ever find the americans willing to do it, and even if they do, at what price? chances are we'd lose the farmers too! let's face it, we need the labor, it just has to be done legally, well organized .

Sounds good, but the people coming over are not land owners.I would have to say very few Mexican Indians own land.About 14 years ago I got to see some of the Chiapas Indian villages near Cancun. They live very primitive in huts.Their water comes from a well in the middle of the village and they cook with firewood. I doubt if they have the money for the farms you are talking about.Shortly before my visit, other Mexicans wanted to build a resort on the land they are living on.They were told to move. They decided to make a stand with some help from an unknown rebel. The government was going to send the Army and make them move.High news media coverage put a stop to the Army.Otherwise the Army would have gone in and killed them.

Why Would Mexico Go Through All That Trouble ?
It's Easier To Export The Workers
Than To Create The Infrastructure

Industry Requires Infrastructure To Be Successful

great question. Theoretically, there are a number of compelling motives for the U. S. to annex the the remainder of Mexico. a million. Southern Mexico has a lots smaller border. Even the mexicans can patrol it. 2. each time the U. S. has obtained a chew of Mexico interior the previous it has made money on the deal. 3. US regulation might recommend minimum wages, which might quite lots gut the entire reason of the present invasion. Why might Pedro freeze his chihuahua off in Chicago while he could make the comparable income Tijuana? 4. US regulation, might in concept, sparkling up governmental corruption south of the Rio Grande... in concept. 5. Lotsa organic components and cheap exertions, even at minimum wages. 6. the yank South is experiencing a extensive actual components growth. What in case you extra over a million extra sq. acres of even warmer land? 7. At Mexico's narrowest element, and with modern-day technologies and countless decrease priced exertions, the Tehuantepec Canal undertaking ought to ultimately be found out. this might placed a substantial, modern-day, transcontinental canal on American soil which might herald billions of greenbacks each and each twelve months. properly, those are the theories. in fact, annexation might value us billions of greenbacks, hundreds of lives, and destroy the yank way of existence.

Well, this has already been done. Numerous large US produce companies and farms are already farming in Mexico. NAFTA (North America Free Trade Agreement) covers the importation of produce from Mexico to the US. In order to prevent the companies from flooding the US with produce from Mexico and to protect farmers in the US there are quotas in place.

Ag is threatening to go there and do just that. Of course a big reason Mexican farms can't compete, apart from science, is our subsidies. Don't think Mexico will match those.

That is how we stayed agriculturally self sufficient all these years to begin with.

Your idea is phenomenal, have you talk to the Mexican government about your idea? I think that you should call the closest Mexican Representative in your area and suggest it to them.Or you are suggesting that the US government do this work fro the Mexican citizen.? The problem is that the Mexican government knows about this, but they are so inept and corrupted that for them it is better to send their poor and sick to the USA and let the US government take care of them. You see when they come, this the illegals send 40% of their earning to Mexico and the government will have more money for their pockets. Do you know that if you are a farmer in Mexico you are poor. Read about Mexico and you will see how they operate. Your idea is good but not for their government.
