I would say that none of the above apply. Money is more important to ceo's and politicians who want to feather their own nests. During WW II, Coca-Cola brought out the Fanta range so that they could continue to sell their products in Germany. IBM built the punch card logging machines that the Nazi's used for keeping track of the prisoners sent to the concentration camps.
Corruption and greed are on every level of the food chain.
You should watch a three part documentary by Michael Moore called "The Corporation".

They all apply to the present but exactly how they are put into effect depends upon whether it is used by a Republican or a Democrat in charge of the Whitehouse.

For example - In your last quote - While a man would in fact be a patriot to the Democrats - he would unfortunately be a traitor in the eyes of the Republicans!

believe it or not even as things are bad in the world ,yes i do think they still apply to the present , and i hope given that the majority of the people of this world are good and hopeful ,they always will
