Actually before Bush anti-Americanism was confined to the hard left and militant Islamists.

For example, even in supposedly American hating France the approval rating for the US was approx 70% in 1999, now its 30%.
(This pattern is repeated in most of the rest of the world).

A number of polls in the UK have shown that 80-90% want to break the alliance with the US (eg http://uk.news.yahoo.com/17082006/344/britons-want-terror-policy-change.html)

In Border Fence's Path, Congressional Roadblocks
http://rds.yahoo.com/s=53720272/k=border...
By Spencer S. Hsu
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, October 6, 2006;
No sooner did Congress authorize construction of a 700-mile fence on the U.S.-Mexico border last week than lawmakers rushed to approve separate legislation that ensures it will never be built, at least not as advertised, according to Republican lawmakers and immigration experts.GOP leaders have singled out the fence as one of the primary accomplishments of the recently completed session. Many lawmakers plan to highlight their $1.2 billion down payment on its construction as they campaign in the weeks before the midterm elections. But shortly before recessing late Friday, the House and Senate gave the Bush administration leeway to distribute the money to a combination of projects -- not just the physical barrier along the southern border. The funds may also be spent on roads, technology and "tactical infrastructure" t

I do not expect Jack Straw to concede to the demand of a masked visitor, it could be any person or a thing hiding behind the dark veil. How many time had the fake Sheik portrayed himself to be someone else under deceptive pretext.

When you are in Rome... abide by the rules, the UK or any other country is no exception. A westerner who travels to the Mid-East to abuse the alcohol rules should rightly expect to be prosecuted as though a muderer, but same foreigners would come to this country in the back of a lorry to dictate to us how we should live, by enforcing their bloody norms upon us to conform with.

f you demand good judgment, respect and fair treatment, you should have the courage to lay your card open on the table. If they agree to comply with the rules not to cover up their faces when making serial State benefit claims or when visiting the local bank cashier or when they desperately want a British passport, then Mr Straw has the right to enforce openness.

I asked this question before and got some interesting answers but the problem is still happening. I live in a largely illegal immigrant neighborhood, I recently moved back to take care of my grandparents per their request. Our next door neighbors blast music every Thursday-Sunday night until 1:30 AM, sometimes 3. There are 24 people living in the house, mostly men but some wives and children too. My friend Marilu lives there, she tells them to turn the music down but they laugh at her and say "What are you gonna do call the cops"? in spanish. I have told them many times to please turn it down, but they laugh and ignore, sometimes theyre too drunk to answer. So I call the cops every weekend, but they get there at like 5 AM when the music is off. I asked the police dept. what I should do, they said to form a community action network, lol the community also play music loud so that wont work. I tried calling INS, they said nothing there can do but call the cops. Im going in circles..

Under current law, FISA allows warrants to be issued almost immediately and even allows a tap to be put in place without a warrant as long as evidence is shown to the court within 72 hours after that doing so had probable cause. FISA allows any and all kinds of wiretapping, but provides oversight from a 3rd party to ensure that such powers are not abused and are used properly.

Current law allows spying on suspected terrorists (domestic and foreign) and there's no "delay" - so for those of you who support the new "warrantless" program, what are your reasons?

As far as I can tell, the only difference is that the president and NSA are now able to conduct any operation without having to explain why to "anyone" ever. Isn't this dangerous carte blanche power to give to a single section of our government?

Most logical and convincing point gets the points. Thank you!

To be exact. The fifth amendment forbids compelling someone to make a self accusatory testimony. How this works, I do not understand, as it seems that "taking the fifth" would be regarded as in indirect admission of guilt... But my main point is that some legal systems rest largely on obtaining a confession. Are those admissible as pieces for the prosecution in US law?

They can deport this guy sure, but he'll be back with a new id and new SS# and new line of work if human sumggling isn't working out for him will drug smuggling work out better.By Louie Gilot / El Paso Times

An undocumented immigrant who turned to harboring migrants to pay his debt to his own smuggler was sentenced last month to five years of probation and ordered deported, court documents showed and his lawyer, Carlos Spector, said.

Gilberto Vasquez Martinez, 26, of Mexico, pleaded guilty in August to harboring aliens.

On April 25, Vasquez was seen by Border Patrol agents buying large quantities of fried chicken at Church's Chicken on Dyer Street, two dozen tortillas and sodas. Agents followed him to a safe house on Portello Street, where they pushed open the front door and found seven undocumented immigrants sitting on the floor, eating chicken.

In court documents, Vasquez said he made the decision to emigrate to the United States after his father died and his family needed money. He had been smuggled about 15 days before his arrest by a man he knew only as "El Vato." The smuggler told him he could work off his balance by working for him, Vasquez said.

He was given a Ford Explorer and money every three days to feed the other migrants, documents showed.
"This was a heartbreaking case," Spector said. "All this guy did was buy some chicken."

Border Patrol agents reported that tinfoil and bedsheets covered the windows of the safe house to block the view of the interior and that they found cellular phones, bolt cutters and a ledger inside.

I met someone while visiting the US. She is the kind of a woman I always dream and wish in my lifetime! I must take her back with me to Canada.
Anybody knows how long of a process if I marry her in the US and bring her back as a wife? She is from another country and have overstayed her visa as a visitor in the US, would that be a problem?
Also, what if i take other route as a solution. Let her come to Canada as a visitor and marry her there? Any help would much be appreciated.. Thanks in advance.

My fiance and I are getting married next week, then in November he ships out for basic. I'm really nervous. I know that he will be fine in basic but what happens afterwards? Can my daughter and I move with him? We also have another child on the way in May. I'm just nervous they are going to send him away from us.
