The U.S. is supposedly a democracy but yet we have always been ruled by corrupt political families ( the Roosevelts, Bushes, Kennedys, Clintons etc.) much like an heir to the throne in a monarchy. Less than 1/2 the people in the U.S. vote and of those who do know very little about the candidates they are voting for and often make their choice because of their stance on one issue. Ex: He is against abortion so I'll vote for the other guy. The other guy (or girl) may be the most corrupt, immoral, person to run for congress but the voter will still vote for him not knowing any better. Another example, a voter may vote against their governor because a certain member of their party likes to flirt w/ male pages. Even though they have nothing to do w/ the House of Rep and could be 3k miles away from it (s)he could lose the election. If its not one issue they base their decision on, than its the borderline slanderous ads financed by the politcal parties. So I ask you, is democracy overrated?

Its about time Woodward makes up for fawning over the Bush admin in his last 2 books. So far the Republicans have not been able to refute his statements. Especially interesting is the proof that Rice lied about meeting with the CIA before 9/11.

People wont admit it, because they dont want to think of themselves as bad people. But people find ways of feeling okay about themselves while they oppress. Most nazis felt good with themselves while doing what they were doing. It's not hard for us to try to rationalize and deny that we are looking down on a group of people because of our stereotypical image of them. Is our government's description of the term illegal/legal enough to suppress millions?

When we go to see our God, I hope he does not hold this against us. That we have kept a group of his people down. Suppressed them and not let them be equal with the rest of God's creations. And that we have felt justified and good with this.
This is a giant sin that we may have to account for someday/time.

Notably, even desperate circumstances don't make a lawless act moral. Proverbs 6:30-31 says, "Men do not despise a thief if he steals to satisfy hunger when he is starving. Yet if he is caught, he must pay sevenfold, though it costs him all the wealth of his house."Illegal aliens rightfully should face a very tough penalty, even if driven to lawbreaking for understandable reasons.Second, the law in Old Testament Israel required resident aliens to assimilate. They were to adapt to Israel's ways, not impose their own. For instance, Deuteronomy 16:9-15 requires all residents to observe the Feast of Weeks and the Feast of Booths. This includes foreigners.Third God ordains civil government. Earthly authorities are his agents to restrain evil, protect the innocent, and punish the wrongdoer.

Romans 13:1-7 describes the divine ordination of civil authorities. It reads in part, "The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted. … "

Civil governments are part of God's common grace to protect people in a fallen, sinful world. It's why we appropriately owe allegiance to governing authorities of this world. It's also why courts of law assess punishment for lawbreaking, rather than mob rule or a tyrant's whim. This is a characteristic under common grace, the rule of law. Scripture passages sometimes referenced in connection with immigration actually speak more to immigrant policy than immigration policy. These are verses such as Leviticus 19:33-34 and Exodus 22:21. The latter passage reads, "Do not mistreat an alien or oppress him, for you were aliens in Egypt."

Such verses call for fairness toward aliens and strangers, the same as how other passages say to treat widows and orphans. Importantly, these passages address treatment of aliens once they are in a country. They don't say anything about the criteria or the process by which aliens originally gained admittance into the nation.

this communist state have tortured over 40000 people.[Documented by the United Nations] Experts say that over 10 thousand have died during torture. Their organs then sold for use in transplants, This is a Country that we in England are trading with more and more. Surely there must come a time where morality overcomes profit, but then again money rules the mind when it comes to the West. Evidence is forthcoming that followers of Falon Gong [a practice of "slow moving meditative exercises"] are being imprisoned, tortured, and murdered for their organs. There are over 100,000000 practioners in China, and all of them are now at risk. I think it is about time severe pressure was put on China to improve their human rights record.

Isn't this enough proof to leave Iraq to the Iraqis?

"About six in 10 Iraqis say they approve of attacks on U.S.-led forces, and slightly more than that want their government to ask U.S. troops to leave within a year, a poll finds."

How about those who volunteer to make the supreme sacrifice for this country's honor be granted an elevated supreme citizenship status. Above and beyond those granted to all citizen of the U.S.

Veterans would have their SSN amended to reflect their service. Their votes would weighted with greater importance. They would be considered first in all hiring in the US. Their tax burden would be reduced. Jury trials of honorable discharged veterans could only be juried by honorable discharged veterans. Veterans would receive greater social security benefits, and so on.

Theses elevated rights would be granted retroactively to cover all honorably discharged U.S. Vets.

And, yes I served honorably 5 years U.S. Army Airborne!

Thousands of innocent civilian men, women and children have died at American hands in this war on terror and in President Bush's misguided war in Iraq. Innocent civilians are being killed as part of our political and military strategy; therefore, the U.S. is a state terrorist- by definition.

You see it all the time. Ignorant red staters like Fox, etc. Do you think they must feel that way, because they are unable to accept they're currently a minority? I mean it's quite contradictory. The CEO's of Exxon and the large portion of big business and laywers that are Republican are college educated. You can't have it both ways.
