I think child molestation is right below murder on the "severity-of-damage done to the victim" list and should be treated as such. Life in prison is the minimum penalty these preadators should expect to pay for their crime. This should be considered for anyone convicted of molesting/sexually abusing a person under the age of 13. I think this age is acceptable to choose as one in which a child's mind is not ready to comprehend the consequences of performing a sexual act or to have one performed on them by a significantly older/more experienced person. There is no way I can believe that could occur without the older person exploiting the other's inexperience, innoncence, or physical weakness. Our current laws can apply to statatory rape cases involving those age 13 and over, but those that commit these acts with younger children really deserve to be sent away forever.

1st time offenders should be monitored for long periods of time after release. They should also be forced to go trough therapy. It may not be classified as a disease, but it is certainly not "normal" social behavior.

Recurring child molesters should be chemically castrated.

I know it is a drastic measure, but what else can you do?

We are not talking about a guy that has robbed a 7/11, and that after some jail time can come out and become a decent, law abiding member of society.

We're talking about a human who's brain has a flaw.
A flaw to interpret and distinguish right from wrong.

But should we exclude him permanently from society? I think not. And based on studies that prove that castrated males loose their sexual desire, i believe this is the way to go.

It's extreme, borderline medieval. But if you stop and think for a bit, an individual can be "cured" from his obsession. And although he will come out of this process branded for ever, he will still be able to enjoy life in society.

You know i think jail time isnt enough to rehabilitate these sick minded people. They need serious help.Have you been checking out Dateline for the past few months catching these predators. They had the same guy come to meet a 13 year old girl twice, these people don't understand. These people are not sane they have mental issues that need to be dealt with. They can't possably go to jail 6 months or a year with no type of counciling then be expected to be law obiding citizens, its garbage. These people need alot of help.

No. Surgery and branding perhaps, or execution.

Ever since the Quakers sold the idea that prisons should be penitentiaries not places of punishment, they have, unfortunately, been ineffectual.

Punishment, sure and severe is a much better deterrent than just being penned up with other criminals.

If child molesters were mixed with the general prison population rather than being shielded from them, the question would be moot.

by way of fact the different prisoners could the two kill them or manage them like they did the youngsters they molested; it is to guard the newborn molesters from the different criminals. extremely is very uncomplicated in approximately all prisons, jails or perhaps artwork farms-the thieves, murderers etc despise newborn molesters and could do them great actual harm....in my view think of they should mixture them and function the newborn molesters positioned on an figuring out sign yet i'm a heartless individual or so I extremely have been instructed.

Child molesters should/must be taken out of society, be it jail for an indefinite period or worse. It is a curse that must be stopped.

They need to be put in jail longer the FIRST time they offend to make sure they don't get back out and harm any more children. Either that or public castration.

It costs taxpayers money to keep these people in jail! Bring back the gallows or introduce the lethal injection.
