I have a one and a half year old hermanns and I am confused about uvb requirement. Does this species have a 'high' or 'very high' requirement? Should I be using a Repti Glo 5 or 10? The tube is positioned approx 12" away from the tortoise.

I'm being told different things by different people and books! I want to simulate the natural environment but the 5.0 states it's for tropical reptiles, whereas the 10 is for desert! Help would be appreciated! thanks in advance.

I have taken her to the vet 4 times now. The first time she had pinworms but now they are clear. She keeps losing weight it is very alarming she is so skinny I can see her spine clearly, tailis as thin as it gets. I have been trying to get her to eat but it is not working, I am at the point that I have been force feeding her with a syringe, without much sucess either. Please I love her very much and I will cry my eyes out if she dies, I read something about vitamin shots tonite I will ask vet tomorrow......... Also shed is very bad one of her toes is looking black, I have been putting her in the tub and soaking her and trying to get any off with a Q tip but I just cant get it off of her toes....She is a mess, and so am I. Any advice is appreciated. This vet doesnt seem to know what he is talking about but there is noone else to take her to.

I have a RES (about 4 inches) and I just got a Western Painted tonight. They are the same size. I have my RES in a 75 gallon. I was wondering how well these two will do together? Any advice?

PS - I do understand that they will get very big. I already know where I'm going to keep them full grown.

it deserves a better set up. it is about 4" i'd say.

Turtles are messy and i hate cleaning the water. i want to have a perfect set up where it don't get messy at all. like some sort or drain plug or some auto cleaning tank. you know. how do i make it easy to maintain this turtle. he's smelly and a real mess. I don't know if they any filters or tanks that are made so i don't have to do squat. by the way my turtle's name is turdy. Even sense the turtle was little it always pooped. So it's name is turdy hahahahah, get it?

I got Mouse, my ball python, several months ago. He was fine before but just today I picked him up to play with him and i found a drop of water on my arm. Then I actually saw water come from somewhere on his head. I think it is from his eyes. I let him be for a while in his cage but later on I found water in it and when I took him out he was still doing it. This is not non stop. He just occasionally cries. Is this bad? Is there anything I should do?

I cleaned out my snakes tank (like his poo poo and stuff) but it still smells SO bad!
I know I cant spray anything in there because it could hurt him
but what if I like squirted lemon juice or put some orange slices in there? Would that help or bother him???

If so, what can I put in there to make it smell better???

I got him on Saturday and he hasn't come out of hiding. Is this normal. Should I try to pick him up when he comes out or wait (and how long should I wait?) He is 13 inches but I haven't even seen him yet. Any other tips I should know about this kind of snake?

i am the proud owner of a juvinille corn snake. He is about 2-3 months old and a great pet. My only concern is he is hanging out all folded up next to his water dish almost all the time. when i first got him (a week ago) he was hiding under a little cave i bought for him because i know they like to hide. The temp on the warm side is about 80 degrees thanks to a reptile bulb located on the outside of his tank and a small heating pad on the underside. why would he opt for a more exposed area next to the water dish? He will hang out there even if i turn the bulb off to cool the warm side as well, so i can't imagine he's too hot. he lives in a 2.5 gallon tank with a fine, crushed walnut shell reptile bedding substrate. i have not yet fed him, but am planning to this week. the store guy said he was eating baby pinkies well. i'm just worried about him. any advice from some snake owners would be great!
