I have taken her to the vet 4 times now. The first time she had pinworms but now they are clear. She keeps losing weight it is very alarming she is so skinny I can see her spine clearly, tailis as thin as it gets. I have been trying to get her to eat but it is not working, I am at the point that I have been force feeding her with a syringe, without much sucess either. Please I love her very much and I will cry my eyes out if she dies, I read something about vitamin shots tonite I will ask vet tomorrow......... Also shed is very bad one of her toes is looking black, I have been putting her in the tub and soaking her and trying to get any off with a Q tip but I just cant get it off of her toes....She is a mess, and so am I. Any advice is appreciated. This vet doesnt seem to know what he is talking about but there is noone else to take her to.

Assuming that you've got all her care down pat (ie. a spot to get warm, a spot to cool down, a water dish, and a hide box), it sounds like she's got some kind of parasite or infection. I know there are no reptile vets around you, but try taking a fresh fecal sample (if you can get one which is probably not happening since she's not eating) to any vet in your area. They should be able to do a test for any parasites. There is a website for the American Associations of Reptile Veterinarians at: www.arav.org that can help you find a good reptile vet in your area if you can't get any other vet to help you out or would just feel more comfortable with a herp vet. Just try giving her some Pedialite fluid in the mean time (you can get it at any drug store in the baby section) to keep her hydrated and full of electrolytes. Don't force it down though, give her time to swallow or she'll drown. Keep soaking her in the tub of warm water, and make sure she has a good hide box to crawl into with some moist paper towels or peat moss or regular moss. Whatever hold moisture so the humidity in the box stays up. Hope this helps, and check out a good book on leopard geckos or find a good webpage like www.leopardgecko.com which has a good care sheet. Good luck to both of you.

It sounds like your gecko could potentially be infected with Cryptosporidium, a protozoan that may not show on the fecal samples. Currently there are new drugs being tested in reptiles to treat this, however, I am not positive of their effectiveness. I am aware that this is prevalent in geckos, so i would discuss with my vet. There are also different resources on the web, just type in Cryptosporidium and geckos as a search....a bunch of info will pull up. Here's one paper: http://www.drgecko.com/proliferativeenterocolitis.htm

Ours died recently despite all our efforts to make her healthy. She just would not eat. We tried everything from putting her in a small cage with worms and crickets to try to get her to eat to making sure her heating pad kept her adequately warm. Nothing worked. She just continued wasting away until we found her dead in her terrarium this morning. We took her to experts to try to find out what was wrong and they couldn't figure it out either. Apparently, there are instances where these reptiles just do not thrive and it's hard to say why. The gecko was my daughter's pet and she was very sad when she found out. I wish you the best of luck but to be honest, it doesn't look good.

I am sure you feed crickets to your leo & if so you might want to try just a worm diet .
The crickets can cause pin worms & other health problem so I have noticed in the past Now my leo eats mainly meal worms these are in the tnk at all times . & silks, butters, wax worms throuhg the week for treats .
I realy hope things work out for your Leo .
