My Red Ear Slider is about 6 years old. He seems to be having a bit of shell rot, but that is not the main problem. While I was looking him over, I noticed red spots on hte underside of his shell. It is basically the two pieces right above his neck. Does anyone know what this is???

Take your turtle to the vet......

Symptoms:
Lethargy, weakness, possible red flush to limbs or plastron.

Probable cause:
Generalized septicemia (blood poisoning).

Treatment:
Many cases result from traumatic injury, especially if incurred in contaminated water. There may be hepatosis as the liver can rapidly become implicated. Urgent parenteral antibiotic treatment is required together with careful and intensive supportive therapy. Blood tests can be useful in establishing the progress of treatment.

yep it is shell rot and a bactial infection. The shell wil take soe time depending on how far it progressed. anke the turtle out and place it in a dry area about 2 weeks I recommend peat moss it keep's better moisture.Don't worrie they do not need to be in water all the time they do need a place to dry out.
Apply some sort of shell calisum Tetra makes a good one it is in a paste do this every other day for about 3 weeks and you can give a medication in a liquid form for the infection check you local shops for recommidations.

Sounds like shell rot or infection. Check out this site for pics and more info. Sounds like you need an experienced reptile vet.

It doesn't sound good. Call around to your local vet clinics and take him ASAP. People shouldn't have pets if they can't take care of them :(
